I now understand about RUDE people and size comments My baby Baxter is close to 12 lbs. - He's adorable - He's the love of my life - He's just great - I've read many threads where rude people come up to fellow YT members and comment about the size of your dog - Wellllllll - It's happened. My neighbor came down the other day and saw Baxter - Her first comment was how big he got - I did not think anything of it - Then the comparisons started - She has s**tzu's and they are much smaller- and he (Baxter) is really big - Does he eat a lot- Did they tell you he'd be this big - blah blah blah blah blah - And to tell you the truth - it started to irk me. Didn't think it would - but it absolutely did - What difference does it make to her - Do I care what size her dogs are - I guess the deal is - DON'T DISS MY DOG. |
People always ask if Loki is a Schnauzer because of his haircut or a Silky because of his size. Just ignore them, it's not worth it. |
Maybe we could have t-shirts made up with that slogan for rude people. Sorry that happened to you. People now do not have the manners that once were the norm. Maybe they are lacking brains, too.:D |

yeah, I get that A LOT! My Dunks is 13.5 lbs (of pure Yorkie muscle!) and I always get that oh is he a Yorkie? Is he mized with something? Is he a silkie? Sometimes I just want to attache his AKC papers on his back so people can just stop asking me! LoL |
Tell her yes he eats alot and his favorite snack is tiny s**tzus.:D |
Hmm...if her shih tzus are that much smaller that your boy, then they are under-standard. Shih Tzus should be 9-16lbs according to AKC standard. So maybe you should tell her that her shih tzus are really small for shih tzus. Why are they so small? Does she not feed them? Did the breeder tell her she was buying undersized dogs? |
i just tell people that i would never tell them that their kids were "huge" so they shouldn't tell me that my dog is "huge"!!! don't let them get to you tho...just love your baby :) size doesn't matter!! :D :D :D well..... LOL |

--- Obviously, your neighbor has nothing better to do. As long as your :aimeeyork is healthy, you don't have to worry about anything. |

Don't feel bad, AUbrey is 14 lbs. I think that maybe one person commented about his size, and I took up for my baby!!!! |

I personally believe in the saying " If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all". People are just rude. My Biewer is 13 pounds, and I consider him 13 pound love bug. Just some more to love. |

I try to keep some comments in my back pocket. when I had danes, people would say "that's not a dog, that's a horse". man...i got that ALL THE TIME. So I started saying "you're right...I forgot!!! his dad was a horse, his mom was a Dog...look what I got" i do the same thing with maggie when they call her a rat...Only, of course, instead of horse, I use "rat". LOL people just stop and look at me funny. LOL |

Ida -- just because someone says something doesn't make it true. Some people see ONLY with their eyes -- fortunately you see with your HEART. You might say -- How long did it take to learn to be so hateful and mean or were you just born that way. I love Baxter unconditionally. |
Zippy is 13 lbs and is a purebreed Yorkie. Chip is 14 lbs of Yorhuahua lover! When people make a comment about his size I tell them that Yorkies were originally this size until they breed them to be small, so genetically they still carry the "big gene" (My version of made up scientific stuff to back up my statement, but sounds very logical). |
I had someone where I work make a rude comment when I told her mine was about 11 lbs. Her's is 6 lbs. It really upset me. Once, I also got the " are you sure he isn't a silky?". Breeds are not determined by size alone. |
I tool aurora to get her nails trimmed at petsmart and they asked me if I was sure that she was a yorkie, not a silkie. I was like nope she is a yorkie....she looked and said really? Like she didn't believe me. My g-ma wasn't rude about it but she was shocked when she saw the difference in the clothes sizes between my yorkie and my mom's. |
People are always asking me if Remy is a silky terrier ( they feel she is quite large for a yorkie).....SHE'S 5LBS. AND 9 INCHES TALL FOR GODS SAKES!!!....Okay the size comments bug me too. Eileen |
Wow... but hey, what can you do. One persons insult is another persons compliment! |

I just serioulsy learned to ignore people. i leave them standing with their words hanging from their mouth. i used to get into with people but im tired of ignorant humans. I give the puertorican eyebrow lift and most people walk away befoe they speak another word. oh and before i forget.are we not allowed to spell out s**tzus?, ive noticed this recently and it not like we are saying the poopy word on purpose, its how the breeds name is spelled. either way i guess ill bleep is as well . dont wanna get in trouble and grounded:p . |
Quote:
It's not letting you spell it out because you're misspelling it. The word is Shih-Tzu and is pronounced "Sheats-zoo" |
Thank you for clarifying that for me:D . Now i will stop calling them poopyzus. j/k. :p |
I hear alot of this from YT members too. The thing is that, If you go back to the original weight of a yorkie they were up around 12 lbs. So I would tell them just that! He is a normal size Yorkie...If these people that make comments on Yorkies size did their research and read about the breed they wouldn't be making such rude remarks. |

Don't question my size if you don't want Mamma asking about yours!" or Size doesn't matter.....rudeness DOES! or Does this shirt make you sound rude? oh, I don't know....I'm VERY tired today;) |

Actually, I would have to look it up again, but I think they were WAY bigger than that.....I'm thinking like 22 pounds:confused: |
Argh! I get so completely irritated when I hear people questioning the "authenticity" of a Yorkie when they are big boys/girls. To me, ANY Yorkie, whether big/small, stand-up/floppy ears, silky/cotton coat, golden/chocolate/silver, long nose/short nose- they are all just beyond wonderful.:yorkiesar:yorkiesar |
