I dont know if i am posting in the right area (sorry!)

I was just curious if there is a certain age your furbaby needed to be to get a microchip?

Chloe was microchipped at 4 months.

so can you chip them at anytime really? or is there a set age?

I had Harley chipped at 6 months when he was under for his neuter. Harley is one of those who cries when he see the shot coming, so I thought that I would save him some heartache!

Mine were done at 6 and 7 mos when they were spayed and neutered

ok. so its basically just a matter of when you want to. I just didnt know if they had to be a certain age to have it done.

I had Suri microchipped when she was a bit older. I think she was like 6 or 7 months old. I want to get our two new babies microchipped but they seem too small to have it done, so I will ask the vet. I went to one place and they would not do it until the pup was older because she was smaller.

Yeah, I'm gonna need to ask too. My Baylee is 9 weeks tomorrow.

I think many people do it while they are under for the spay or neuter, you can do it without anesthesia, but there is no risk of them wiggling when they are under, so I think it's safer.

I usually have puppies chipped a day or two before they go to their new owners, unless the new owner asks me to wait--or tells me they will do it at spay/neuter time.
