I org posted under yorkie pic's BUTT this is MY LIFE 3 Attachment(s) I got Roxy to be a theray dog. My dad is under 60 and has a very bad TBI (traumatic brain injury) leaving him not able to speak and move. He isnt brain dead he laughs at the right things and smiles. Our dog of 16 years died (Siberian Husky) while he was away in rehabilitation hospitals and a nursing home. He was away from home for 9 months We took my dad home and take care of him there. Which is something everyone said we couldnt do. I decided to get a dog again and she is bringing so much joy. Well so far he loves Roxy and she makes him smile and laugh everyday. When she is calm I put her on his lap in his wheelchair I am going to post a couple pic's of him with Roxy. I will take more for everyone. Roxy is very special she is just as crazy as his Ashley but small enough to lay with him. Since she is so small I leave her with my mom and dad all day. When I get home from work she goes crazy running around and all. He just laughs. It is so nice that she puts a smile on his face |
Oh my, how wonderful is that? That little baby is bringing so much joy to him! I love the second picture! :) |
this just fills me with joy. I'm so glad little Roxy can bring so much joy to your father. I love the pictures, post some more! |
I am glad that your little girl is able to bring so much joy to your father! This realy tuched my heart! What a special girl you have! |
Thank you for sharing your pictures and story. A special thank you to your Father for allowing us to enjoy his smiles with Roxy. Warmly, Deborah |
How wondeful. Roxy is filling his days with laughter and love. You and your Mom must be remarkable people to care for him in his home. |
That is so wonderful that Roxy brings such joy to your father!! I believe dogs are great healers. I have a 23yr old special needs daughter, our dogs and my daughter Crystal have a very special relationship. Crystal has such a love for all animals but especially dogs. They love her as much as she loves them!!!    |
 Wow, how nice is that and how nice of you to keep bringing him joy with your little one. |
There's a special place in heaven for families who dedicate themselves to taking care, in their home, of a disabled or seriously ill family member. You are to be commended, as is your little therapy dog! Animals are great healers. Good luck to your dad and your whole family. |
Welcome to YT What a wonderful gift Roxy is for your dad. Yorkies do bring smiles :) |
This post just made me cry. It reminded me of my mother who I lost 2 years ago after a stroke at age 68 left her unable to speak, to feed herself, to even sit up. She was in a nursing home for 3 years and my Dad was there every day to feed her and read to her. I brought Sunshine over to see her so many times. It is the only thing that could get her to smile. What a wonderful gift these special little souls are able to provide to those who need it most. Hugs Sonya |
Great story. :) |
I am so HAPPY that your dad loves your new fur baby! Dogs have this amazing ability to connect with people on a whole other level..it truly is magical (sorry to sound so cheezy :P) I hope they have tons and tons of fun w/eachother! :D |
God bless you for being such loving daughter!! My Mother [we lost her in 2006 ... on our Toto's birthday] loved her so very much and Toto loved my Mother! She would get so much joy from just watching her and she loved it when Toto would sit on her lap and snuggle!! :) It's almost like these babies can "sense" that they are helping!! ;) |
That is cute!! :) |
Precious :) Thank you for sharing! |
This really touched my heart :) God bless you and your dad and that little angel of yours. |
2 Attachment(s) Thanks so much guys. It is really hard but Roxy is making my mom also smile everyday. She is putting some happiness, laughter and healing a part everyday. When some of you guys were saying dogs help heal and a magical way they connect you are truly right. When my dads dog Ashley passed in Nov she went over to the place where he would sit after work and tried to pass there till my mom and I got home from being with my dad and put her in her bed to go. I will post a pic of his Ashley for you. It is so crazy with lil Roxy it's like she has her traits. Ashley would run crazy when you would clap your hands and say go Ashley or even not eat her food out of the bowl (take a piece out a a time to eat it on the rug at the kitchen sink). Maybe when dogs go to heaven and one is born they know it is going to you and they give a part of them to the new pup. Not to go on and on but my Mom stopped working since my dad was hurt and now when I leave Roxy there she keeps her company all day and she is so in love with her unlike other animals I have ever seen her with calling her my lil gradbaby I love you, you are so cute and when she does funny stuff she just keeps my mom happy and tells her (look at you, you know you are cute too). She calls me in work telling me how my Dad laughs at her all day and what she is learning how to do. Roxy is a heals everyone with her joy. |
What a touching message and bless your heart for taking care of your dad. I'm sure he's happier and gets better care with you and your mom, rather than a nursing home. Little puppies sure have a way of lifting one's spirits, and that's what she does for your Dad. Thanks for sharing your story and the pictures. Hugs to you, Roxy, and Mom and Dad! |
1 Attachment(s) awww your Ashley was a Siberian Husky .and she was beautiful ... .. I had a Husky also. His name was Blackjack ... Destructive as could be, but won a Blue Ribbon in Obedience Class ... go figure! However, we loved him no matter what (and so did the local upholsterer) I would love a miniature Husky ... that does not shed .... Bless your heart for making your dad happy .... |
Monday Huskeys are nuts. You never know what they will do! They are beautiful dogs and protect the family. They are also VERY, VERY SMART. They give so much love. |
How wonderful for you to do that for your dad. Dog theraphy is the key to the heart. |
Well it sounds to me like little Roxy is making her grandparents very happy. Roxy's mommy sounds like a very special lady to me, too. Good luck, honey, and you all will be in my prayers. |
