Haircut Pics PLEASE??? I'm not sure how I want to keep Abby's hair. I really wanted to grow it out b/c I love the classic yorkie look, but I have seen some really cute shorter ones to. So please everyone post pics of your yorkies no matter how long/short their hair is? Also.. Do you groom yourself? If you take them to a groomer which cut do you ask for? |
2 Attachment(s) I actually don't cut Lacy's hair, other than to even it up occasionally if the hair grows uneven. I do groom her myself. Every month I shave the tips of her ears, trim her feet, and give her a sanitary trim. Her hair grows extremely slow for a yorkie so that's why it's still this short - I just cant get it to grow...if it would, I'd have her hair floor-length. I love the full coat on yorkies. |
4 Attachment(s) Roxy went for her first cut at a groomer. She was all matted and all. This is her before and after pic's. Now that I can brush her everyday I dont think I want her shaved that low. |
I dont know whos this baby is, but THIS is how I want my boy cut !!! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/att...3&d=1184877272 |

1 Attachment(s) ^that's kinda how we have Peanut's hair cut. Not really called a 'boy-cut' we just have the grooming person using the longest setting on the clippers, and have her trim his face and his boy parts. And we let it grow from there for 1-2 months at a time. The attached picture is shortly after a haircut, the picture in my avy, is after almost a month of growth. |
everyones are really cute. one more question- How hard is it to take care of a yorkie w/ a floor length coat? |
Hair Cuts 2 Attachment(s) Here's my lil Meka before and after... I had to cut her hair because she had "matts"... I love her both ways, but I think she's been feeling better w/o her thick coat - especially here in California. I cut it myself (as you can probably tell) and I found a great Cutting Kit by Andies at Target ($25) Its a complete kit w/ a how to DVD... Love it and would recommend to anyone! |

I also want to have Coffee's hair cut but just don't know how. He is a Teapot or should I say Coffeepot and the last time I had him cut short he looked really funny. Chelsea15, I think it depends on their hair Coffee and Coco have long hair, while Coco is a dream to groom, has silky hair and she loves her grooming,( actually falls asleep:) and really looks beautiful most of the time, Coffee is more cottony, does not like being groomed and I also find that because he squats to pee, all the hair below his body gets sticky and is difficult to brush. Even though I try to be gentle and use a grooming spray, when he sees me with the brush he runs like hell. I think i'ts time for a nice short cut:) |

I dont think a yorkie can look bad with any cut. I was so upset over the weekend seeing all Roxy's hair cut short but you get used to it. How can you not just smile at them. I am really interested in those who groom thier own babies. I know Roxy is squirmy and think I could end up cutting her. I would love someone who cuts their own yorkies hair to start a thread on how too. |
2 Attachment(s) My groomer suggested a cut where a "skirt" would be left at the bottom. I'm thinking it looks like the standard Schnauzer(sp?) where they cut the hair on the back low but leaving the hair that hangs on the sides. I was wondering if anyone had that cut, please share. I'm curious what it would look like on yorkies. Thanks, Yolanda :cheer: Mommy to Diva 1yr 4mos :animal-pa and Foxxy 17 wks:animal-pa |

I love Diva's cut |
I LOVED Emma's haircut when it was cut like this: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/att...9&d=1170110234 I don't know if you can tell, but her legs, arms, and head are longer, and her body is short, like a puppy cut. I thought it was SO cute! Connie gave me the idea when I asked for haircut ideas last year, and here's a pic of her Maddie with the same haircut. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/att...9&d=1165476381 I printed it and took it to the groomers' with me. I think you can see the cut a little better in her picture. I LOVE this cut, and I'll be doing this one on Emma again for Christmas this year, when her puppy cut is a little more grown out so it looks good like this. |
1 Attachment(s) Thanks GG! I had to get her hair all cut off when she was a puppy so I am delighted that it has grown out.. Suzy--Emma's and Maddie's Hair Cuts are too Cute. I think that is similar to what my groomer had suggested. Maddie's hair looks so full though. I'm not sure Diva's hair is long/thick enough for it to look like that. I'll have to try that one day. It's nice seeing all the different pics and cuts....gives me more options to use that I would'nt have thought of.. Yolanda ......:aimeeyork Diva & Foxxy:aimeeyork |

2 Attachment(s) That is how I keep Zoey's hair cut. She has bangs or visor cut and she usually is aboout the same length all over. |
What's a visor cut? |
2 Attachment(s) The visor cut is when you take the hair right over the eyes and cut it about a inch long it then stands up and holds the other hair out of their eyes. You do not cut alot of the hair. I will try to get a picture. |

Sadly to say, I tried to trim the skirt off of him with my HUMAN hair clippers...he looked like someone CHEWED on his hair then spit him back out. I wish I would have taken pictures, you all would have CRIED! It was hysterical but Beau was actually embarrassed and wouldn't look anyone in the face for weeks...probably because everyone would just start laughing the minute they saw him...ha ha ha. I'd never make it in the professional dog grooming world. |

4 Attachment(s) I cut the hair on all my dogs here is Teddy and Krissy with a form of a schnauzer cut. Chelsey stays long. She get a bath once a week and combed nightly but it is worth it. Lastly is Mandy who has brittle hair so it doesn't grow well but I don't cut it. Grooming is something I spend alot of time on but they are worth it. |
