Hot Tubs Bad For Dogs? Haha. I know that's a weird question, but we rented a cabin next weekend. I really want to see if Rosie will swim, but don't have a pool to put her in. Of course I would first check if the water is too hot. If it's not too hot, do you think it's ok? |
I would turn the heat OFF overnight, and then put her in. If it seems too warm, don't put her in. I think a mildly warm tub would be ok-but only for 10 minutes at a time. And of course, leave the jets off while she's in there :) |

Not a good idea to put your baby in a hot tub. It might feel cool enough for us, but even if its off for a few days it can still be way to warm for them. I have a small kiddie pool and mine love it. |
The temperature in our hot tub is 104 degrees...that's hot enough to make a human sweat so it would definitely be too hot for a dog. Besides, the seats are too deep and there's nowhere for a dog to sit or rest. The kiddie pool is a much better idea. |

I don't think it's a good idea. Even people (who are a hundred lbs or more) are only supposed to be in a hot tub for a certain amount of time because it can make you overheat and become dizzy and even pass out. So a little yorkie could become overheated really fast. I think it could easily cause heat exhaustion. It would be like having your dog outside on a 100degree day but worse because the hot water is surrounding their bodies and they are also having to exercise (which creates more heat in their bodies). I wouldn't risk it |
i got princess a kiddy pool big enough for her to swim.. i wanted to see if she would on a hot day!! i just dropped her in the middle and she didnt like it at first and now she wants to jump in!! :D |
I think if the hottub is not hot then it's okay if you watch her, like if the water's cool although idk if hottubs can have cool water. I remember being in a hottub on Norweigan cruise and the water was SOOOOOOO HOT, on top of that we were in the sun, at the top of the cruise where the pool was at. At that time the pool water was cold cause we were still in NY area so they hadn't changed the water to ocean water so i preferred the hottub, i love hot water! lol |
I have a hot tub and they are too hot for dogs. I have put mine in briefly beforebut I would never keep them in there |
I agree if you're going to put her in the hot tub then turn the heat off, and only let her swim when you're in the tub to supervise her. |
Ok. I never realized they were this hot, but the tub inside I think will be fine if we fill it with luke warm water and not turn on the heat\jets. I'll see. I won't try it if I think it'll hurt her. |
