You also want to be aware of the drain that could suck her toward it and hold her under. We have one (hot tub), and if I get my foot too close to the drain, it will stick on it. I am not as familiar with the Yorkie's system. Small children do not have well developed control of their body temperature, and their temperature will go up quickly in a hot tub. That is basically the reason for not putting kids in. That and the fact that some small children have had their hair caught in the drain and sucked under. |
I would never put Sydney in a hot tub. Even if you turn the heat off the water is full of chemicals. |
You can fill up your own bathtub with enough water so that she can walk around, but also you can lift her up and see if she'll swim. I've done that with Max, especially during NYC heat waves. He'll walk around in it, but hasn't gotten up to swimming yet. We play with his toys in there at this point. |
I wouldn't put a dog in a hot tub, they are much too hot. Even people aren't supposed to stay in them more than 15-20 min. at a time. |
