I couldn't remember which was safe and which wasn't. I just remember reading something about it on here. I just went and checked my paper work from when I had Bella's teeth cleaned and Jersey Spayed. My vet used "Sevoflurane." Does anyone know if this is also safe or what the unsafe anesthisia was called? My vet is very good and is supposed is always voted best in the area, but still I want to be safe then sorry. Again, I'm happy Dixie is alright, and yes you're right an allergic reaction can happen but I'd have it out with the doc. about why the tech allowed her to go when she wasn't really ready. Thank god she came through alright. Elaine |
OMG that's terrible! I'm glad that she's O.K now. Maybe it's better she didn't stay the night, because if she did she would've been alone and no one would be able to notice her condition. It's so scary when they go under because anything can go wrong. Is the vet going to reimburse you at all for the spay since it sounds like it was their negligence as to why it got this bas for her? |
Im so sorry this happened to your girl. Im so glad you did take her home, if not and if noone was there at night with her, she could of died. |
omg i just got on and read this i am so very sorry i hope dixie recovers fast with god speed this just has tore me all to pieces i can just imagine how you are feeling the vet tech should be fired if she is that uncaring she does not need to be working in this type of enviorment and has not the slighest clue as to what she needs to be doing again gb both you and dixie:littleang :littleang :getwellso |
ps what blows me away is my vet cleaned her teeth with no problem must have been different meds he used |
After what I have been through with an incompetent vet. I am seriously thinking that spaying and any needed surgeries I will have done by specialists. I know it costs more but the pain and suffering is not worth it. There are good vets out there but they are hard to find. Trust your gut instincts, always. Thank God she is fine now. I am so glad Dixie is okay. This is exactly why I would never let Ellie stay alone at a vet's office when sick. It is just not safe. Vet techs do bug me. I have seen a few that you don't know what planet they are on that day. I was reading an interesting article about anesthesia online. It was saying that the gas form is so safe but injectable may be safer if the administer of the gas isn't "all there" that day. Now, I would never use injectable but it is something to think about. Drawlins27, was it you that just had one of your dogs in for emergency surgery and they had trouble waking him up? |

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I am glad she is OK!!! And you should try to get the ER bills back... They should have been extra careful with her, with all her antecedents... Good momma, she is a lucky one!!! |

Here is the article but I don't know about some of the stuff this person is saying (especially with the use of barbituates), so this serves as my disclaimer.;) The part I was talking about is at the very bottom. http://www.2ndchance.info/anesthesia.htm |
OMG that is so scary, and reminiscent of how I lost Starr:cry: I KNEW she didn't look good when I picked her up, as she'd been spayed and had dental cleanings previously and was just fine. That last time she was SO groggy and was whining:( I didn\'t listen to my gut, and believed the vet tech, who said she\'d be fine:mad: Thank GOD you know better, I sure didn\'t back then. I\'m SO glad that Dixie is going to be okay! This is a good post for everyone to see:thumbup: |
