How long is time out? For little kids, I think it is 1 minute per year of age. How long is time out for Yorkies? Coby's in time out right now because he just wouldn't stop barking tonight (okay, the first time was my fault because the water bowl was empty). He's just hyper and obnoxious, attacking the other dog, and barking his fool head off. He's like a toddler too late at night after an entire angel food cake. Even showing him the water bottle isn't helping tonight. So he's in time out in his kennel. He always goes in voluntarily and calms right down when he goes in and I cover it. But for those of you that use time out, how long is your time out? |

He's out of jail. He's usually just there for a few minutes, because although I'm a good pack leader, I'm a soft sherrif. But I do still want to know how you guys handle the toddler terror in the evenings. (Sometimes a good long walk does the trick, but not always.) But he is growing up s-l-o-w-l-y. :D |

Oh, Aubrey is happy. So he will get to play tug-a-war tomorrow. I haven't let him do that.. I couldn't keep him from jumping on the bed.. but I did stop that. |
i do the same 1 min per year of age after that they forget what happened under a year i would do a min some need longer to calm down if you see hes still ansey in the crate then leave him in there alittle longer |

Cody is in his pen now. i brought him back in from trying to use bathroom which he didnt go. but thats not why he is in the pen. i went outside to water the flowers and he ran out the door. and last few days he has learned the "come" command. so when i called him outside trying to get him. he wouldnt come and i had to begin the chase. so how long should he be in for???? he doesnt seem to learn his lesson. i know its the puppy in him. but everyday its getting to be the same old thing. constantly chewing on things he isnt suppose to. and he wont come when i ask him (he knows he is going in his pen) and when he gets out he goes back to chewing. ahhhh i cant wait for puppy stage to be over already. |
I don't know that I put Lucy on a time out because I'm not sure she really understands - Rather I give myself a time out. I love for her to be with me every second possible but once in a while, when she's being particularly "over energetic" I will put her in the kitchen and go in another room for a bit. They can be a handful can't they? :) |
OMG ok this might sound really dumb, but I swear I have never heard of time out for dogs LOL. Hmmm...I think Tator would be in there all the time :p |

:lol tears You guys are hilarious!! At least you all make me feel better! As for the "my own time out", I do that, but then he starts barking his fool head off which has to be the worst offense. I can take almost anything without feeling like I need SuperNanny but that. The water bottle used to work, but now he barks, sees me coming and backs up so the stream won't sting, then advances to just resume barking. Agghhh!! Yeah, I can't wait to pass the rite of puppyhood either. They're not like big dogs where once the grow up, they look nothing like puppies again. I look at a yorkie who always looks like a puppy to me - I don't need all the puppy behavior to talk baby talk to them!! I really do love his puppiness- but omg - some days..... |
