Oh, and also, Coby is getting good at time outs now. Some times when he starts that stupid barking, if I don't reach for the water bottle (causing him to back up so the stream won't sting), he now just runs into his kennel. I figure he must know he needs a time out. :D How can a dog be SO STINKIN' SMART and yet be his own worst enemy??? |
AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH, yes I remember the puppy months. Besides the potty issues, the chewing stage... Chelsea found ways to chew a window shutter and refrigerator handles...YES, the handles. Its my parents fridge, after they passed, I kept it as an extra refrigerator. Chelsea was left alone for a short time in the utility room, where the refrigerator was placed, and, and she spent her time standing on hind legs, knawing at the rubber handle. I will always treasure this refrigerator..HAHA-it has her marks. Now, she is 2 yrs, almost 9 months. She has decided, atleast 2x day, to paw my leg, if ignored, she starts barking LOUDLY, and turns in circles. If you ask, what she wants...she runs to the pantry, licking her mouth, eyes on the door, where her BIG snacks are kept. Arent these babies smart and clever????? Usually to the point of out smarting me. TIME OUTS????? Come on, do you think they REALLY work??? :D :D :D |
replying to the poster above.... I'm beginning to think they don't work!! Cody doesn't seem to learn his lesson when he gets out :D |

And yeah, you might be right. I think maybe the time outs are more for me than him. My Shi Tzu when a puppy would get into the kitty litter. I'd holler at him and when he came to me and looked guilty, I'd give him a treat for minding - rewarding the positive. I told the trainer that I was positive that he didn't even want in the kitty litter - he had just found a way to outsmart me into giving him a treat!! Yes, smart and clever......... |
Only 1-2 minutes, I feel if its any longer then they forget what they did. |
