He'll probably get there. He's only 19 weeks old, so he has time. |
His growth/size sounds similar to my Marcel (avatar). He was 1 lb. 4 oz. at 16 weeks when I got him. At 20 weeks, he was probably about 5 oz. heavier (1.9). Now, at 9 mths, he is holding steady at 2 lb. 10 oz. - I don't really think we're going to get him to 3 lbs.; his breeder predicted 2.5-3, so we're right in the range. So, just based on my own experience - I'd say you'd be lucky to get him to 3 pounds...but there is always a chance. |
Ahhh he is so cute:) molly is going to small also, the smallest of my babies, havent weighed her latly but she is still under 2pds at 21 weeks, she does not let that stand in her way:rolleyes: she is so fiesty with my others and sometimes does get hurt and cries:( I really have to watch when they play |
My Jasmine was 1 pound, 11 ounces at 7 months old... she is a little over 3 pounds at almost 3 years old (in October). You never know how much they will grow later on.... I kind of fattened her up when I first got her. :D |

He definitely could - you really just never know with Yorkies. Sometimes they truly do surprise you! However, he is really very small...so he could indeed stay that way :) No matter what happens, he is just as cute as a button! :D |
He could reach 3 lbs, you never really know. My main concern would be why he hasn't grown. It just throws up a red flag and you have to question whether or not he has a health problem which could be the cause for his poor growth. Some things that come immediately to mind as possible causes are hypopituitarism, open font, or liver shunt. All of which cause growth problems. This is where knowing and trusting your breeder comes in. He could be and hopefully is perfectly healthy but you should ask the breeder some questions and try to find out more information. Regardless, he sure is beautiful! |
