Size doesn't seem to matter in our home!!!

We find the bigger ones give the tiny ones whatever they want, lol. I think as long as you watch them initially and make sure they learn to play nice it should be fine getting any size brother or sister.

Thats soo true. This morning the pups had already eaten. Well the cat food was put up where Dakota can't reach it well aubrey could. So he was getting into the bowl and getting it out and giving some to Dakota... so they do help each other!!!

At barely over 4 lbs, my Sissy isn't as tiny as Tiffy - but she is very small in body size as well. Size was an issue for me in deciding on another Yorkie because I didn't want Sissy to get hurt with someone bigger than she is. She can usually hold her own, but it is a totally different story when you're talking meet-up vs. a permanent fixture :)

At 10 months of age, Angel is a little over an inch taller, two inches longer and almost a full pound heavier, though really skinny in comparison. Angel likes to play constantly and roughly and is constantly jumping on Sissy and biting her. Sissy gives it right back but will cry to be held when she has had enough and Angel is still rarin to go!!!! Angel is also a major jumper and has just started to take a flying leap off the couch (or bed) trying to jump on Sissy on the floor. Needless to say, this is NOT okay, so we are scolding whenever we see her setting it up. I do worry very much about Sissy being hurt still. I know Angel is stll a pup, but she plays and plays and plays, then plays some more and Sissy just doesn't want to be as active as Angel is.

When it comes to much larger dogs, Sissy usually hides. We have a good friend with a Sheltie who comes over frequently. Angel loves playing with her and occasionally gets kind-of pounded on by the Sheltie. Sissy does not playing with her and will either hide or want to be held.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

To me size matters if you have to go out and leave them alone together. Since Sophia and London are so close in size i feel comfortable leaving them together, they are about 1/2 lb apart. They play and get along great but sometimes like to wrestle but that's ok cause they are close in size. Teddy is bigger so i separate them when i go out, right now he is at my bf's house cause London is on her heat but when he is here and im not home i do have to put him in another room since he is so much bigger.

I have 2 Yorkies and a pom. The pom was 13 lbs, until she got sick and Cali is 5 lbs. I got Pixie in January fuil grown at 3 .3 lbs and she rules the house. She pulls Cali's leg out from under her and pushes her up against the wall and she jumps on Maya and we have had no problems. Maybe try and get a quieter, more laid back puppy.

I don't think there will be enough difference in their size to make a difference. Usually the older dog for some reason understands it has to be gentle with the littler one.

Well the thing here is that the older dog will be the tinier one? And if the new puppy is much larger and more spunkier then I am afraid of the tiny getting hurt... :(

How cute!! so nice that you kept Kaycee toguether with his daughter!! That is awesome! My tiny Tiffy is soooo laid back, not hyper at all. She has tons of toys but has never been a big on them, so much prefers to be on my lap or carried around and loved.

Thanks! that is good to know. Is one of them a tiny though? I just see my Tiffy so small and fragile... or perhaps I am just too overprotective.

I think your little girl will love having a sibling and she'll probably be the boss lol.

How cute! I love chi's, they have the best personalities and are super spunky! :) You are right, she will have so much fun with a sibling  just have to make sure I match her right in size AND personality! Thanks for the advise!!!! :animal36

I totally understand! She is soo tiny! I couldnt imagine having one that tiny with ME around, never mind another small dog! HAHA Im telling you my Dex though (the 5lber) is more of a hazard to himself than Fletch could ever be to him. Yesterday he was running towards the front door to see out the window, when I moved in the living room, he skidded to a stop near the kitchen table, went to turn around to look at me quickly and WHACKED his head against the chair leg! He sat back on his bum for a second, little whine and then came to me to be picked up. I was laughing sooo hard though... I knew he was not hurt! I felt bad for him, but it was hysterical! He also attempts to jump fast on the platform step at the bottom of the stairs (maybe 5 inches high) and misses it and falls to the floor all the time. I wonder if this boy has something wrong with his eyes! So as you can now tell hes a menace to himself and himself only! HAHAHA  :D :D :D

Ma! Your little Dexter sounds like he is the funnest fur-kid around!! Poor thing, I hope he was ok after that crash with the chair :) Tiffy sends him a big yorkie hug!! You are right, forget other furkids, just people are enough of a hazard to my Tiffy. Always have to make sure I dont accidentally step on her or that she is not handled too roughly by others. Overprotective mom syndrome I think...

My maltese isn't as tiny as your yorkie, but she is tiny, in my opinion. Emma is just under 4 lbs, and Miko is almost 11lbs, and I have no problems whatsoever with them. He is very gentle with her, even though she's a big bully to him :) Emma pushes Miko around. But Miko came first...We had him for almost 3 yrs before we got her. What size is the yorkie that you're thinking of getting? I think it depends on the new pup's temperament...If he's extremely fiesty and much bigger, your little one might get hurt by accident, but if he's docile and friendly, I don't think you will have a problem. But if you're really concerned about size, I would get a pup that's at least 6-9 months old or maybe a little older to make sure that he will stay the size that you want.

Once in a while Rascal (our boy) gets a little rough and make one whimper.. but if they do he quickly stops. ;) Our Golden plays soooooooo gentle with all of them.. shes so sweet! :)

You are so lucky to have a perfect little fur-family there!!! I love love Goldens, they are my second favorite dogs, of course after yorkies!!! :D Thanks for the advise, you all sure have made me feel alot more comfortable about a little larger sibling for our family. ;)
