How much harder is 2 than 1? As some of you already know, We just added Brodie to our family. He has been fantastic. I have had soooo much fun with him already. I can not get over how attached and how much I love him already. Since we got the belly bands(thanks Go.fetch), the potty pad training has been great. My question is this? Brodie was one of two little boys in a litter. I wanted the other little boy also but hubby was not having it. So I did not push it...Well, Barbara just called me and they still have his brother. Due to personal family reasons, they have not been able to find him a new home. She knew I was interested in him and said that now that things have settled down somewhat in their home. It was time to find him a home. I approached hubby and he said let him think about it....We all know what that means....:D So my big question is: Are 2 pups really all that much more difficult? The expense part, I am aware of...2 neuters, etc.. We have had multiple pets before just never 2 pups at one time. Am I biting off more than I can handle. I am a stay at home wife. So that is not an issue...Brodie goes everywhere with me...Not that I go that many places..lol.. Would love some input. She promised to hold him for me til I call her back. Thanks |
I think that it would be wonderful for him to have his brother to play with. There have been times that I have second guessed having 2 but they are so great together. Just remember you have to have 2 of everything (but they'll always want the same one, haha). Since you stay at home that is wonderful. You can train them together!!! Good Luck!!! |
I had two that were pups together and I really didnt think it was that much harder. I was a stay at home Mom too and I can tell you that really helps with the pottytraining. When they would get onry and tear something up however they do it together. Mine tore up the lineolum in my bathroom together but that was also my fault because I didnt confine them. It is more expensive at the vets so that is a consideration. Still you cant beat all the lovin you get from them also the companionship they give to each other. My breeder also said yorkies do better in pairs than alone. I have found that to be true. If you havethe money and the patience and time I say go for it |
I have 3 but never had 2 puppies at the same time, I wish I did. I think having his brother would be great. I love having multiples. I too stay home which helps. I have insurance on the 2 youngest and that helps with vet expenses. |
i would go for it! |
Go for it!! Go for it!! You know you are going to end up with 2 or more anyway! :D. Yorkies are like potato chips, you can't have just one!! :aimeeyork  :aimeeyork  :aimeeyork I will never have a single dog again. I love having 2 and now we have 3!! We feel each one is special in their own way and they entertain each other. I love to sit back and just watch them play. Your 2 will grow up together and they will have sooooooooo much fun!!! When i have to leave the house, my girls also have each other and there isn't that separation anxiety that Kissy had when she was the "only child" for 5 years. I always felt guilty leaving her alone. Boarding is easier too as they have each other to be with. Hurry and go get that baby boy!! You know you will anyway so what are you waiting for!! :) |

ya im going to wait about a week or two after i get my yorky and get chihuahua female.you can never have enough dogs or stuff for them! we already have a 19 week old male english bulldog and 15 week old female bulldog. |
I have 2 boys from the same liter! They are inseperable! I love having 2! Their personalities are soooo different and I feel that they need each other. I do work full time though so I feel sooo much better that when Im at work they have each other to play with! And honestly going through the puppy stage just once with them both would be much easier than going through the puppy stage again! :) Go for it!!! You gotta train one anyways, you might as well train two, if you can afford the expense of 2! |
I have two, and their fine together. I think they would keep each other occupied. |
I got my two when they were both puppies, they are only 2 weeks apart in age. I had Hoku first and a few weeks later added her 1/2 brother Kalani. They are inseparable and have so much fun playing together that I don't think I could ever have only one again:) |
My hubby and I were just talking about this. We both agree, if we were going to have more then one Yorkie...we would like them to be litter mates. I think it would have helped Winston a whole lot with his anti-social attitude, he's not mean, doesn't bite...he simply ignores and avoids other people and dogs, he's kind of stuck-up. LOL!!! I say if money is not an issue...go for the gold...get the other little boy. I think it's a great opportunity for all involved... |
 i would def. get another one if i were you!! Avery is 4months old and we want to get her a sibling as well.. we have already began to look for a reputable breeder(because we know this can take some time) We hope within a few months (when avery is around 8 months or so..) anyways.. i say DO IT!! :) and they will have a buddy to play with always.. |
I say get the brother! :) Do you have photos? |
I have two. Love every minute of it. The only hard part is potty training, once you get past that part I am sure it will be the best thing! |
