Your first Yorkie How long have you been a Yorkie owner? I think it's neat to see how long some of use have been Yorkie owned. :D Tilly was my first Yorkie of my own, (my mom has one so she was mine when I lived at home), I bought Tilly back in December 2005. The apartment we rented didn't allow pets so we went to get Tilly every weekend and stayed at my parents until we moved in February. She grew attached really fast and so did I. We weren't suppose to moved until April but we bought out our lease just so we could have Tilly. |
I haven't been a yorkie owner for a long time. But I got Aubrey in December of 2006 what a wonferful Christmas Present. And I got DAkota in July 2007 :) |

My first Yorkie is Lucky:aimeeyork and we got him in March of 2005 when he was 3 months old. I quickly learned that one would never be enough. We bought our second yorkie Lexie:aimeeyork in November of 2006 and are already contemplating getting our 3rd:aimeeyork by early next year. |
Sissy We got our first Yorkie 35 yrs ago..my father gave her (Sissy) to my daughters as a Christmas gift..I wanted to murder him!!!! We had 2 other breeds and they did not work out...I had decided we were not dog people...but Yorkies are very different and I have had as many as 27 at one time..but just two for the time being..or until I want to raise another puppy... PS..Sissy was imported from the UK... |

Our first Yorkie was Maddie Rose(10-26-02) My best friend has 2 yorkie girls and she bred them. I got the pup- a little girl- for me...lol My daughter, Holly, fell in love with her and vice versa. They were inseparable. So Maddie became Holly's pet. Maddie passed away this pass May due to an accident at the lake. She was our introduction to the breed. Been hooked ever since.. Now I have Brodie....and he is awesome....ALready told Hubby I wanted another. He did not freak...Soooooo |

OK - my first Yorkie was in 1977 and JT lived for 8 long and happy years (he died early in life due to a medical condition); then Sruffy I got in 1978 and he lived 14 years. Then I was broken hearted and couldn't deal with getting another Yorkie so that's when the cats came into my life....then work; travel, etc., but I don't know what happened but all of a sudden I got the itch for a dog....I was not even THINKING of getting another Yorkie - I would cry every time I would see one. I was going to get a Jack Russell but then a friend of mine who breeds and shows sent me this video clip of Izzy on a Wednesday and that Sunday went down to Columbus to get her...the rest is history....so that's our story in a nutshell.:D |
I had always wanted one since I was little. I used to watch the dog shows on tv and I wouldn't move til they showed a Yorkie. I finally got Maggie (15 weeks old) last year on August 5th which is my baby sisters birthday. Then Maggie had her pups on August 1st of this year and I was only going to keep 1 but Today my Husband informed me that he knew I was having a difficult time deciding between 2 of the pups so he said I could keep them Both. I think it was his way of saying sorry for being a jerk. He burned the crap out of his fingers at work and I somehow became the reason it happened. We argued, I stormed off, today I get 2 pups. Beats flowers. |
i got roman on mothers day of this year so i havent had him too long but i dont know what i would do without him! im definitely planning on getting a girl at some point. these little ones are addicting lol |

i got my first yorkie when i was 8 and im 32 now so you do the maths :D his name was ben and he was a very large yorkie, he was sadly killed by a car when he was 5:( i got scampi when i was 13, then sasha when i was 18, they then had a one night stand and along came tye and zac:rolleyes: scampi died aged 15 and sasha had to be pts aged 12 and a half after having 2 heart attacks:( i then got brandi (a rescue) in 2005 and then annie in 2006 sadly annie had a brain tumor and was pts in 2006:( i still have tye and zac who will be 14 this december and brandi who will be about 3 this december and also a shih tzu called suki:) |
I lucked into getting my Shorty dog (Rip) in May of 2000, and he was 3 yrs old. His owners were patients at the doc's office I worked for. They couldn't deal with his "running off". I walked in their door to look at him, and he came flyin around the corner on 2 wheels. 3 and a half pounds of pure cute. I was in love immediately. I had him neutered the next day. He never ran off again. He was my baby til he passed at the age of 8 due to a tumor on his optical nerve. Everyone that ever met Shorty wanted a "shorty dog", which meant yorkie. He was the greatest little boy, ever. When I found out his condition was terminal I went ahead and got Otis. He is so different than Shorty, but I couldn't be more in love with him... Thanks for letting me think back on my first dog, and my first yorkie. My sweet Shorty dog. I still miss him, but I have great memories. |

Got my first, Yahtzee @ 9 weeks in January 05, and second, Yankee @ 7 weeks in June 05. Fancee is Yahtzee's first born. Fancee has her first litter, but I'm not keeping any of them. |
We got Scruffy in February 1986. (Well, we didn't bring him home 'til April ... but we picked him out at 2 days old.) My dog that I'd had since childhood, Shaggy, had died the summer before at 14. I had moved to college and my mom was alone in the house, 'cept for my cat. She finally decided she wanted a dog -- and she wanted a Yorkie. (Shaggy had been about 35 pounds, he was a gorgeous dog. Looked like a big version of Benji. Carting him up and down stairs and in and out to the bathroom during his last several months had been a chore.) Scruff was dainty and particular and smart. He and I always had a love/hate relationship but he made it up to me toward the end. He became like my best friend during his last three months or so. I often wondered why he couldn't have been that way with me the rest of his life! (Sadly, he died at 11.5 of hemangiosarcoma.) He got so bad, he had to be PTS, something I'd never had to do. I never wanted another dog after that. I lasted a whole week. My mom talked me into going to "look" at puppies. It was love at first sight. Ozzie came home to us in September 1997. :) |
