When I got Paddington neutered, I asked the vet to pull any teeth that needed to come out. When I picked him up, the vet tech said that his chart only read "adult teeth" next to the request to pull teeth. She said she thought this meant he already had his adult teeth, and sometimes we don't even notice when our puppies are loosing their teeth because they tend to eat them. So okay, I thought, it wasn't as bad as I was told teething can be....

WRONG!!!!! Since saturday night, Paddington has lost three puppy teeth that I know of. Until saturday, I hadn't seen ANY fall out. He is six months next week. So, here we go down the trecherous road to teething

Any advice??

I don't remember anything bad with the teething stage. I know some dogs have some troublebut Lacy never did. From my experience on here, it seems like it's the tiny ones that really have problems with teething. I don't know if the larger ones do so much. I guess Lacy swallowed most of her teeth, but I found a tooth in my car once..LOL. She lost all her teeth except the baby canines so I had to have those pulled. I guess just make sure he has stuff to chew on.

Thanks MyFairLacy! I bought him some new orka chew toys on my way home from work, but he doesn't seem interested in them right now

I'm also trying to keep a bully stick handy for him and other things he likes to chew on.

He does seem pretty uncomfy though; he keeps batting at his mouth with his paws and chomping his jaws. He does this right before a tooth falls out- almost like he is pulling it out himself. I looked in his mouth the last time he did it, and saw that the loose tooth was bleeding!

Is this normal behavior? Should I call the vet and have his gums checked if they are bleeding? He is so uncomfy, I can tell- he keeps rubbing at his face

If I freeze his chewies, will it make it feel better? When a baby is teething in my nursury school class, I freeze a damp rag and let them chew on it- is this a good idea for puppies too????

LOL I'm such a first time mommy; sorry for the hysteria, but I hate to see my baby so unhappy

Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
