the question is.. how can u NOT overly spoil them?? the looks on their faces when they get a new toy or to see how cute they look in new outfits is well worth it!!! :D :D :D

I don't think the manner in which you "spoil" your dogs would affect their behavior.

Hmmm... there are different types of spoiling I think. Some do no harm, like buying a toy or treat or outfit, but other forms of "spoiling" can, like letting it have it's way and not learning the word NO. So you can RESPONSIBLY spoil in a good way! The same is true with spoiling your human child too. Boundaries have to be in place and carried out, or then you have a bad spoiling.

When I have to find homes for my puppies I know that I want their new mommies to spoil them and I spoil mine so IMO they can not be too spoiled.

And to me-they are not "just dogs" :p they are my babies :p

I spoil mine and people do make comments, but I don't care. I could be doing worse things!

I think you can spoil them too much to the point it affects their behavior. But, I think you can have a perfect balance of spoiling them AND teaching them to behave. That's always what I strive for! Jake is spoiled rotten, but he listens to me and is well behaved.:)

Honestly, I don't care what people think. My son-in-law makes alot of comments, and I don't like him that much anyways so it gives me good reason to tell him to shut up and mind his own business.:D

I love to spoil Cody because he is my kid. since i can't have any. He gets toys, and clothes. Today he got a big surprise! he got 2 new blankies from Ms. kimmie. he was in heaven he played and fell right to sleep i have pictures in the Picture section. title is Surprise YAY. if anyone is interested!
every time i go to the store i go straight towards the pet dept. first!!!

my mom and i about got into an argument the other day. she saw i bought Cody a new toy and said. you spend your money on nothing but cody. i said well he was good all weekend and he DESERVED IT i walked out the room.

I don't really get asked "WHY" I spoil my babies so much - but my mom and sister will make comments (just being silly) that my babies are WAY too spoiled :p I mean they do think it's cute - but I think THEY think that I have a problem (which, I can't argue there - I think I DO have a shopping problem when it comes to my babies LOL). But that's ok because I love them to PIECES and just like you said, I can spoil them any way I choose! :D

My motto is, WHO CARES what people think or say - they are OUR babies....we can buy them whatever the heck we want! :p If people don't like it or have a problem with it, SCREW 'EM! LOL!!

they can never be too spoiled !! NEVER !! haha . i hate when people ask why i dress Caden in all his outifts cause hes "just" a dog . yeah right !! hes the closest thing i have to a son, being the fact that im only 13 LOL . how can you not spoil these cuties ?!:D

Haha, its hard NOt to spoil them. I think I bought about 6 new toys today, and a few other things, what did I buy for me, GAS for my car..haha. I even them to the bakery, which they love:)

This seems to be the prevalent motto - for anything and everything, not just whether or not we are spoiling our dogs too much. We ALL could benefit from being more open and receptive to listening to what others say. It really is possible that we could be doing something harmful without realizing it.

I used to get smart remarks now and then from the people I worked with about how I spoiled my dogs and the money I spent on them. I never let it get to me and always started asking the person what they spent on fishing boats and gear or golf bags and clubs or whatever they liked to do. Everyone likes something they are willing to spend money on to enjoy and some hobbies are very expensive. I also asked them if they ever got any love from their fishing boat or golf cart or new dress. Always shut them right up!
