Fell in love with yorkies 20 years ago, when I got my first one Max. He had a great life for 17 years. He passed away two years ago in Feb. His sister Lucky 15 year old chow-mix, was lost with out him, so I got Maddie, then came Rudy and now Polly. Lucky is now surrounded by yorkies and loves them to death, they keep her young. |

P.s. My husband wrote me a cute love note this afternoon....(we've been married nearly 16 months) and the note said "I look forward to our future, with yorkies and children (in that order) and a house of our own! You are my girl and I need and love you forever!" My heart melted. __________________ Valerie's site & Sully's dogster! I saw my first yorkie on TV in the early 80's and I was from western Kansas so never dreamed of actually owning one. We moved to Northern California and I was still dreaming of a yorkie and occasionally would see some in our local paper for $300. (which was a huge price then.) We had never bought a dog ( always had free puppies given to us ) and my husband couldn't imagine spending that much!! So I started to beg..... :D I first found a poster from my kids book club and had it on our bedroom wall, had pictures on the fridge, keyrings with yorkies...etc. I started reading up on the breed and decided I wanted to be a breeder. I guess that justified ( for my husband ) spending the money so we got Sadie who had a horrible disposition but LOVED my husband which worked... ;) ) and then the male we got was way to big for Sadie ( but LOVED me ) ...so decided I didn't have the best "specimans" of the breed so gave up on the breeding but I HAD MY YORKIES!!!! :D |
I remember seeing Joan River's Yorkie "Spike" He was so quiet and well behaved. I used to like to see her on shows just to see the dog. When I was a teen my girlfriend had a pair of yorkies that were adorable. Four years ago my neighbour across the street got a Yorkie "Quincy" that was too adorable for words and the greatest personality. When they moved I actually missed seeing the lil guy. In my mind I knew the next dog that I would get would be a yorkie but I also looked at Chihuahuas and Mini Pins. My husband was leaning more towards a Mini Pin because he thought a Yorkie was too fragile. After we looked a couple of Mini Pins we thought they were too hyper. I put yorkie wall paper on our computer, e-mailed my husband yorkie pics....printed out names of breeders....took him to pet store to just hold a yorkie....that was it. hahahah We then found our Yorkie through an ad posted on line and bought her the next day. Everyday my husband tells me that I made the right choice in dogs. Heck, even he is talking about our NEXT yorkie !!!! |

My Yorkie Story I don't ever remember a time in my life when I didn't love/want Yorkies. I remember as a young kid, maybe junior high age, walking to school with my friend and saying that when I got older I was going to own a Triumph convertable (two seats) and a Yorkie! (Coming from a family of 8 children the very thought of a vehicle which only seated two was AMAZING!) I suppose I had read about Yorkies in a book somewhere/sometime, and that was the start of the fascination. Fast forward LOTS of years...and a number of family dogs. I had a dog with whom I had absolutely fallen in LOVE (my Choochie...best dog that ever was). When I had to put him down, at the age of 17 after a very good life, I was devastated...went through one of those "NEVER AGAIN! I am never again going to have something that I love that much, because it hurts too much when you lose them!" Well, within a couple of months I was SOOOOOO wanting a dog (in addition to my Chelsea, given to me by my brother when his new wife decided she wanted some other kind of dog...What can I say, too many men in my life are just totally whipped by their women! :p ). I decided if I was ever going to do it, now was the time. I could choose to have the dog I had always wanted/dreamed of. I went off to the regional kennel club show, and got a couple of recommendations regarding Yorkie breeder. In fact, when I first met Connie at the show, Maggie had just been born (about a week earlier). I got the Mag-ster 4 years ago this fall...and then added to the group this year with Molly (Maggie's second cousin, actually...from the same breeder) in April. MacKenzie came to us just a week ago after being rejected by her supposed to be mother, the wife of a friend of mine. So, I'm one of those who owns them with never having met one of them. The best part is even after nearly four years of ownership, they make me laugh every day! And I can't think of anything else in my life that I can say that about! |
I just wanted a small rescue to complete our corgi, chihuahua family when I saw Duncan or Benji as he was then called I fell in love with him despite his matts and tangles and the awful smell  Took him home cleaned him up and was even more in love with him when he smelt nice  |
I first fell in love with yorkies when i went to buy my house 5 years ago. The realtor had the tiniest yorkie 3 pds! adult size. I just had to have one. I waited awhile though to find the perfect one and to convince my husband to allow me to get one. Finally got my louis in october of 2004!!! went to wizard of claws in hollywood florida and saw a bunch but when they brought louis out it was love at first sight!!! Bought him a ton of clothes and spoiled him ever since. They are the most cuddly affectionate dogs !!! renee and louis :animal-sm |
When we first got married and moved into our new home, my hubby worked afternoon and didn't get home until 5:30 in the morning so I was all alone at night. We looked at breeds that wouldn't be too large. My husband always like bulldogs, but I didn't like the slobber, so we went to see pugs. (kind of like a bulldog?) But they didn't steal my heart and they shed like crazy, I really didn't want that. So in the paper the next morning there was an ad for a yorkie, male, for $300, back in 1976 that was a lot of $$$. She was a real nice breeder, very caring and informative. Asked me if I had children, said she wouldn't have sold him to me if I did. I think because we were kind of young ourselves and she was afraid that he wouldn't get the attention he deserved. But we went to see him, well, that was it. We bought Charly home and I have been with a yorkie ever since  ... |

Didyou ever get the Triumph ?? :) |
It was very recently. last year there was a PETCO (i think) commercial on tv with the tag line. Dogs rule or we love dogs and right at teh beginning was a yorkie with a puppy cut and he was so cute. I told my husband that if we were to ever get a 2nd dog I'd like to consider a yorkie. Well a few months later I lost my beloved pug, Pike, and my husband got me Chewy for Mother's Day. |

I wanted a yorkie after seeing people walking their yorkies. I didn't know very much about the breed so I did some research. This February my husband said find a breeder so I found a local breeder. We got Chachi then 1 month later Jewels. |
