| Kalani's cast iron stomach! For those who didn't see my previous thread - Hoku & Kalani chewed up the edges of a plastic mat last Monday. They both threw up Tuesday morning but acted normal otherwise. However, Kalani continued to throw up bile once every morning till Friday. The vet wanted to see him and as I was getting them ready Kalani pooped out a big piece of plastic. The vet checked him over and felt he would be okay and gave me some meds to help calm his irritated intestines. Update: No vomiting Saturday or Sunday morning - yay! Then Sunday afternoon he threw up a piece of plastic. And early this morning he threw up a hairball! It was my hair mixed up with several pieces of plastic! So this was sitting in his tummy all week?!? Will call the vet this morning when they open and see what we do from here. The weird thing is he has a normal appetite, poops look firm, and he's running around the place like nothing is out of the ordinary. I pray this is the last of it

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Oh wow. It sounds like little Kalani made a full course meal out of that plastic the good thing is - it's coming up or out. The only thing I can think of that they'd do is an XRay but IF the pieces are still coming out - that has to be a good sign along with his appetite and having normal poops - as long as he's acting OK you just may be in the clear but - Wow he does have a cast iron tummy - this really could have caused some problems but it sounds like he's feeling pretty good - I'd be happy for that and see what the vet says regarding the next step if there is a next step. good luck girl !! |

| Glad he got some more out! Man, he must have swallowed a lot! If you still have it, you better check out that mat and see how much was missing and if aproximately that amount has come out. I really don't think plastic shows up on x-rays, but if it was causing bulging, the bulge would show up. It sounds like he's doing good, though. Can't believe he's still got normal functions. Hopefully this was the last of it.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Wow, He really enjoyed that plastic!!! Can you get a feel from all that he has thrown up that it is pretty much all he ate? If not, maybe a barium Xray will tell if there is more in the little guy.

| Well, the vet agrees that if he's acting normally otherwise that it's a good thing for the plastic to come up/out and to continue to watch him. I looked at the mat before I threw it out last week and there wasn't a whole lot missing. I don't know what it is with this guy, he'll eat anything! Hoku will pick up a piece of rubbish or a tiny rock and spit it out and he'll go right after her and try to swallow it
