quick question my puppy harley is almost 7 months old and he is still black and tan. i was just wondering when i could expect him to start changing color. also his ears are still down. i actually prefer them that way but i when can i expect them to stand or is it too late for them to stand up? |
well Frankie is almost 9 months... and he is still all black and tan =] i love it! he has a very little silver on his head... from what i understand- if they turn silver... it would start around 3-4 months. Frankie has one ear up, and one ear down! lol |
awww he is so cute!!!! i def. need to get some pictures of harley on this thing! i also heard that if he has a cottony coat he might not change? is this true? |
My Hoku is 9 mos., cottony coat, black & tan. No matter what I do her ears still droop so I think that's how they'll stay. |
Aubrey is 10 months old, and hes just starting to get a little grey, but hes brown and black. Also, I didn't think there ears stood up unless they are clipped, is this correct? |
my boss' daughter has a yorkie as well... his ears stood up all by themselves. |
They wern't clipped? |
no... not at all. his hair is very short and thin so maybe that had something to do with it. |

the vet said harley might not change color, but i thought they all did. maybe ill be lucky enough to have my little buddy look like a puppy forever! :D |
My Ben is 16 months and he is still black and tan (with a bit of grey), he has a soft/wooly/thick coat and his ears are down. Indy and Malachi's ears stood up without being clipped or taped. |

yeah its true.... here are my boys. One has a cotton coat... can you tell which one? hes all black & tan, no silver... the other one has a silkier coat and started turning silver by less than a year old. Also I think (and Im not 100% positive) that its too late to get pointy ears at your pups age now. Thankfully floppy ears are ADORABLE! HEHE one of my boys has a silky coat and up ears, the other has a cotton coat and 1/2 floppy ears. They are brothers from the SAME exact liter! go figure! :D |

Regarding the color, I remember when Max was growing, dh and myself wanted so much for him to stay dark and tan like his puppyhood.....now, it wouldn't matter if he turned lime green or fuschia; we'd love him to death anyway, hehehe....funny how you think you want a certain thing, and then in the end, it really doesn't make a bit of difference;) . |
i agree. either way id be more than happy to snuggle with him! |
Karleigh is still brown/ black and so is joey, I have 3 standing ears and 1 floppy, charlie is turning silver now, his whole head is almost there and he is almost 3 yrs, so it took awhile to get there, molly is only 4 1/2 mths so we have a ways to go with her:) either way they are all so cute:p |
Both of mine are three years old and they are just starting to get the silver through their backs. |
i know this is off topic but does anyone know where i could get cute harnesses for my harley? the girl ones are so cute but the selection is limited if youre looking for boy stuff |
Bruce was initially primarily black, then he grew more tan in the face and legs, after about a year he got some silver, and now his head is pretty light, but he still has some dark patches on his back...I think every dog is different and they can change color for quite some time. |

Deiter is black and tan. The tan on his face is like a strawberry blond to me. Does that sound right. But I do see a little silver running down the middle of his back. But very little. He will 9 mons old on the 19th. |
