I did the same thing....thought I wanted a little girl and fell in love with a little boy! He is very attached to me, but I think equally attached to my husband in a different way. He obeys my husband better and plays a little rougher with him. I think every puppy is different. :) |
I decided to get a boy because my other dog is a jack russell, and she's a girl. i love her to death, but when i decided to get another puppy, i wanted a change and went for a boy. Luigi is one of the best decisions i've ever made, he's such a sweetie pie! Right now, he's lying down on my lap watching me type ;) Bella (my JRT), is amazing too. I love both my dogs, girl and boy. I think it all just depends on the personalities, as someone else here said. Of course, you may have to deal with the period of girls and the lifting of legs from boys. But frankly, they're both great companions to me :) |
Aw that's so cute! I hope I find one that I instantly bond with with too :D Quote:

I have a female miniature poodle who we have had for 11 years. She will sit with me in the car and lay on my side of the bed but when I go to sit by her at home or call her to me she goes the other way. With everybody else she lets them sit next to her and goes to them when called. I had heard boys were more affectionate, so that was all I needed to hear. So when we got our new puppy I got a boy. :animal36 |
I also have heard that boys bond with females and females bond with boys, AND have found it to be true. While all of mine have seen me as pack leader (my hubby is a push over), the boys definitely bonded more with me and were more affectionate and less moody. Obviously, that doesn't hold true 100% of the time as many of the YT'ers with affectionate little girls will tell you. When thinking "Yorkie", it's so easy to think of bows and clothes. But come on!! - When Coby wears his polo shirt, the girls just swoon. I currently have 2 son "furkids" and they're the BEST. |
Well I have 1 girl and 2 boys and my next one will be a girl so I don't think i'm much help lol!:D Just with my experiences with my dogs and with friends and family's dogs, I think boys are more loving and cuddly but also more silly and girls are more intelligent and easier to train. Its great to have a mix :p |
