Judy...I thought maybe you were referring to my little chunk, Winston...LOL!!!
He is without a doubt, a bit overweight. But I hope, not so much that it's not healthy, if you know what I mean. I watch his weight very carefully...
He too has a lot of hair/coat, but when he's wet...he's all ears and legs. I can hardly recognize him at bath time...So Funny!!!

I was just teasing you!!! So does Gizmo pass the rib cage test??? I always say Winston looks like a furry sausage...his hair makes him look wider than he really is. It's kind of hard to feel his ribs, but I can feel them. I think Gizmo is just right, perfecto!!!

How do you know if a dog/puppy is overweight? Is there a formula? Like height and length compared to weight? Chest measurements compared to height? :confused: Is there a different rule for puppies as opposed to fully grown dogs?

Yep, he passes all of the tests...the rib cage, IAMS, etc... So, he's fine...just on the larger end of standard it appears. Thanks for asking.

I just emailed his breeder since it's his 5 month birthday today and gave her an update and photos. I also asked about his littermate. I'm curious how he is doing.

That's neat that you have kept in contact with his breeder, I shouldve done that more. Was Gizmo from a litter of two, both boys?
Oh by the way, I'm happy to hear Gizmo isn't fat, sassy maybe...but not fat. LOL!!!

Yes, we've kept in touch. Well, I have. lol I send her photos and updates periodically and she responds to my emails. She knows I wasn't very pleased that he had fleas, earmites and tapeworms when we got him, but I am very pleased with how Gizmo is doing now. He's from a litter of only two males. I believe she kept the other one for herself.

I have attached the first photo I have of him at around 5 weeks. He's the darker one on the right.

Awwwwhhh...he was as cute then as he is now. Just too darn cute for words!!!
