Another dog would drool when she is really stressed out. I have see a dog drool before in the process of a seizure. You might want to consult your vet and see about it. It is hard to determine without seeing the condition or the dog. |
The only time Sammi drooled was when she ate a poisonous plant...So many you should call your vet and inquire... |

Check his mouth. Might be a little piece of something stuck in there OR he could have a tooth loose or infected. If he is eating, acting normal, energetic, playful and such it might be nothing except a strange new behavior and will be temp..Is it possible he bit thru an electric cord or something? You said your mom didn't see him eat anything bad but it could be something like a treat or wood(chewing makes splinters! LOL).Dogs do drool when they are having seizures so I would ask mom to keep him right with her and watch him. BUT, that is a common reaction to pain anywhere in the body. Have her look at his gums..PINK? If not, could be a serious problem with shock so he would need to go to the vet ASAP. I do not intend to scare you but these precious beings can go down in such a short time. |

omg i just want to cry ... im stuck at work and i cant do anything the vet isnt calling me back ... i called my mom and asked to check his gums... she said that they are pink in the front but the back or inside the mouth they arent ... is that normal? looked at the cable wires (we have blocked all the areas where cable wires were exposed except for one) and she doesnt see anything torn. hes currently napping now im really confused |
I wouldn't worry until you hear back from the vet. If he seems to be acting normal otherwise, it may be something as simple as a new tooth coming in. If the vet was concerned he would have called back right away. Good luck and let us know how you make out. |
Don't panic. Cookie did this when she was 8 or 9 months. We were so worried. I think she got a piece of food stuck in her teeth. Sometimes when they have irritation in their mouths they drool a lot. We waited it out and she was fine the next day. If you your baby hasn't been around anything poisonous I wouldn't worry. Good Luck. We hope it's nothing serious. |
Couldn't you just smack these brats into the middle of next week? Worrying us like this and after all we do for them..LOL Yes, she only needs to check the front gums for color. The back of the mouth is where something could be stuck. Betcha you get all worked up and urry home and the stinker will come flying to meet you tail wagging the body..Just pick him up and give him great big hooman smooches and hugs. Let us know what is happening.. Is he licking his paws a lot? That can be a sign of allergies beginning. Not likely the case, though..I am so glad these dogs cannot say "GOTCHA!" |
My yorkie used to do that a lot when he was in a stressful situation (ie. He used to hate riding in the car and it stressed him out or whenever we were around new people or a crowd of people). Just try to keep him calm or try giving him some water and maybe a small amount of nutrical |
Don't panic. Whispermom might be right. I might not be anything serious at all. Who knows. Just have your mother keep a good eye on him for anything other weird signs. |
Maximus pants when we are in the car...it is the strangest thing but I have the a/c blowing on him cus I think he's hot right?...well I am FREEZING and he is still panting we get out and he's like okay mom..I was just trying to TORTURE you and make you so cold that it takes at least a few hours to thaw off and I don't have to go back in the car |
Dogs will pant when they are excited or stressed. It doesn't always mean they are hot. |
thank you all of you for all your advise... i got home and he ran up to me and greeted me but he was still wet, its really a lot .... the vet never called me so i called the vet in the emerency room and she called me back but she said after all the symptoms i told her about that she is not worried. its 9:25 pm. usually hes up and about but rite now hes napping... and hes soaking wet. i dont think ill be getting any sleep tonite ... this is too painful for me, ive been through so much with my baby and in such a short amount of time that ive had him.... its just not fair i dont understand nor can i explain what is going on with him. i am just clueless at this point at what i should do next ... im still giving him nutrical and he is eating that just fine ... i feed him his regular feeding at 7 pm. and he ate that with no problems. am i just being paranoid? all im doing is crying b/c ihave no answers on what to do... im lost |
Our Toto did this when she was teething. She would drool so much I would have to constantly wipe her little mouth & chest. Fortunately, it didn't last too long! Hope your baby is OK. Please keep us updated! |
How's your baby doing today? Any better? I hope everything is fine! |
[SIZE=1]thanks so much everyone for your concerns. i was watching him and letting him out every 2 hours just too see how he was doing. nothing changed with the drooling but he was very active he just wasnt too excited to see me.. it was as if he was afraid of me. at 4:30 a.m. i decided to give him some water and he drank that and then afterwards peed and pooped and shortly after he threw up the water. when i woke up at 6:30 a.m. he was still wet soaking now his legs were all wet. so then i decided to go to the ASCPA hospital at 7a.m. the doc finally saw him close to 9a.m. and said that the looks fine that maybe he ate something and that drooling is the onset of nausea. he advised me to no feed him for 6-8 hours and after that time i can give him baby food only if his stomach isnt settled after that then i should bring him in for xrays. he gave him fluid injection.. no food or water for 6-8 hours . and another injection to settle his tummy. i dunno guys. im so exhausted ... |
I hope everything works out...sorry I'm not much more of a help....just keep a close eye on him |
Poor baby. I hope he feels better soon. Take care of yourself too. Last thing you want is for you to get sick from all the worry and exhaustion. Keep us posted. |

thank you yorkieagility and luzangela im a mess im here at work again i have my sister watching him and she just called me saying that hes still drooling .. when we were at the ASPCA this morn the wasnt dooling and when hes home he starts... ughhhhh!! he has another vet appt. today at 3p.m. i hate that all the vets are saying is that he seems fine and nothing is wrong with him .... WTF! something is obviously wrong with him and they cant figure out what.... i dont know what other clinic to go to .. oh stitches i wish that were the case .. ijust dont know..... |
TGIF....at least it's Friday and you have the weekend to be with him and keep an eye out..I am in staten island and I can recommend the vet I now go to...if that helps and they can't figure out what it is...if he is active and doing okay..I wouldn't worry as much as if he was lethargic and crying...keep us posted |
AWWWW, he is still at it, huh? The shot that the vet gave will work for the tummy upset and the fluids will hydrate him. Let us know what the appt at 3p.m. has to say..Hope he is all better by that time..lots of Yorkie hugs and kisses from Rini's cuties.. |
Guys thanks so much for everything again .... im so happy to say hes much better the doc said it was something he ate we arent sure what exactly but i he must of expelled it when he threw up and pooped. the drooling stopped on sat afternoon and i managed to finally we worry free. the doc told me that drooling is the onset of nausea so thats one thing to remember i guess . thanks again and hugs too all that showed concern *HUG* |
Glad it all worked out..and as an after thought..everytime I have puked (due to illness or bad food)..I have had that extra saliva feeling so that explanation makes sense |
So glad to hear your baby is ok now!! XoXOXo Fran and Sammi |
Glad your baby is well again |
