yorkies come with a stereotype?
 

Well, i was in class and our teacher asked us about what we wanted for our birthdays and such. I said i wanted a yorkie puppy, others responded with cars, money, clothes ect..

and then he said that he could make out our personalities with JUST what we picked. (he was only there for summer classes and didnt know any of us) Anyways he said because i picked a yorkie i was a "a spoiled daddies little princess!" WHAT?!? I told him that having small dogs wasnt about totting them around in bags or anything, i just wanted a yorkie because i love their personalities and he said he meant nothing bad by his comment (YA RIGHT). I told him that i had a 3.7 GPA, have a job, care for my younger sister, and am the co-captain of my cheerleading squad and on the swim team! and under no circumstances was i a SPOILED PRINCESS" well he just laughed and said
"well.. of course your a cheerleader" THATS ALL HE HEARD FROM ALL THAT! CHEERLEADER!

i AM SO MAD! i could hit someone! W/e i left the classroom and me and all my friends asks to switch classes and we all got moved to another class with a great teacher.. but STILL! the school said he was only here for the summer and firing him would just be a hassle, but that he would not be returning for the school year and they have heard similar complaints from other students.
i do not go to this school, im only there so i can take some courses so my workload during the year wont be as heavy, so w/e.

since when does having/wanted a yorkie mean you are.. A PARIS HILTON?!

i would have. that's just me :) i get that attitude a lot from some of my family because i have succeeded in life, drive a nice car, have a nice house, don't want for much of anything...BUT I WORKED FOR IT! I didn't get strung out on all the CRAP they were strung out on...I EARNED what I have!!

some people just irritate me! i would have gone OFF on my teacher for saying that. especially if he said it in front of other people. I would have half a mind to report him!

That is a terrible thing to say. The question sounds like a set up to me. Why ask, then put you down? He sounds like an unhappy person who wants to drag you down. You sound like a great girl with a lot going for you. Ignore this jerk and keep doing your thing!

I'm sorry you had to sit through that a$$hole's rant. There's probably a reason why this "teacher" could only get a gig as a summer school teacher (no other school wants him).

But I definately feel there is a stereotype when it comes to being a yorkie owner. The only way I feel we (as a yorkie owning and loving community) can deal with this stereotype is ignore it and behave how we would normally behave. It's just a shame that the ONLY celebrities that gain attention from the media who have yorkies are people like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton...what about Audrey Hepburn and Vanessa Williams?!?

How rude. What right does he have to categorize people. I guess I would have been a spoiled Daddys Girl too. Except I wasn't spoiled just Daddy's Little Girl, and darn proud of it.

He was a jerk. I admit I am spoiled by my hubby and and that's why I have Gypsy. I have enough of my in laws saying I am spoiled wouldn't need someone who does not know me saying it.

When they see me with my baby boy, people assume that I'm a spoiled rich girl type too...Even though I have saved money for YEARS to afford my precious Wobie, because I also have to worry about the tuition for my private college that is not covered by my academic scholarships. Doesn't sound very Paris Hilton-esque does it? :rolleyes:

how would i do that? Its not my school, and i already spoke to the principal. I really dont want to make a huge deal and mess with all the work ive done this summer before i started his class this week. im out of his class, so w/e, im just gonna let it go, turns out "princess" isnt the worst thing hes called girls, and another girl a grade above me is complaining for some really nasty names he called her. im going to tell the girl what he said to me, and with all this, the school will probably fire him anyway.

I've learned a few things in my life and one of them is to know when pick your battles and know when to walk away....that just wasted worth a waste of your breath...sometimes we need to develop a thicker skin in life....there's going to be bigger disappointments and let downs to come...pace you self...;)

Anyway, i know there are worse things in life, but really, im not used to people speaking to me that way. I show people respect and usually they return it, it just really caught me by surprise. i mean HES A TEACHER. i get that "spoiled princess" thing alot from people, but just didnt expect it from a teacher.

As a retired high school teacher, I have to say that he has no business being allowed to deal with students. The thing is, not to take it personally. His being a jerk has nothing to do with you or owning a Yorkie, or anything else. Some people are just jerks, no matter what you're talking about.

You said you don't see a warm and cozy future if this is how people are. It is how some people are, but don't let it stop you from feeling great about life. Avoid or ignore the jerks, and just stick to the good people.

Yorkies and their owners are stereotyped, by the way. So what? I've been called "Paris" when I walk with Max. Would I ever even look at that person, or respond? NO!

LOl....I know what you mean...when we respect someone and then they do or say something so unexpected it kinda leaves you disappointed and speechless at the same time.....but in EVERY profession there are good ones and bad ones, no one profession is immune from having a jerk in the mix....I used to hold doctors, nurses and attorneys up to a higher level of respect, until I ran across the head jerks of their professions...now I just see them as people with jobs, no better, or no worse than any one else...:)

I thought that was pretty funny that because you want a $1000 dog it meant you were spoiled. Most of us have worked very very hard to get our expensve little dogs. And what about the kids who wanted cars? They're not spoiled?

What a jerk! I've had a job since I was 13 and can remember a time right after divorcing my first husband when I didn't know how I was going to feed my children.

Lucy and Rebel fill a void left in my life when my beloved husband died and I was left alone. They make me happy and I feel honored to be their "Mommy".

Spoiled princess - not hardly. Your teacher needs an attitude adjustment.

What a Jerk! Not that it's any of his Business or any one else's? I have 3 Yorkies, a male and 2 females and 1 is very small! So I guess that makes me
"Spoiled Rotten". Yes, Yorkies do have a Stereotype but it's out dated!
3 years ago, no one had Yorkies they were Rare, I never saw one in Public.
Now alot of different People have them, you see them every where!
You have to work for them since they are soooo expensive? And once you do finally get one, you spoil it with only the Best of everything!

"Spoiled Daddy's Little Princess???" WOW like so many stereotypes that is so very wrong! I've had a couple of dogs in my life, all large. I wanted my next dog to be smaller but decided to wait because I had just gotten married and was now a military spouse. After moving to S. Korea, and after trying to have children for a long while with no luck, my husband decided to surprise me with my little Eury. And our lives have been blessed ever since! If that means that I'm a "spoiled little princess"... oh well! :)

I know what people mean about pick your battles. HOWEVER, this is a teacher and I find that comment from him outragous:mad: . What in the world. Even if he feels that way , he should keep his mouth shut or choose different wording or something..... People in these type of positions need to be able to control themselves in a professional manner !!! I would so report that and if I was a parent of a child that was said to, me and the teacher would be having a meeting :mad:

Yeah right....i left home and went into full time work at aged just 16...my parents couldn't wait to get rid of me...dont think i was my daddies spoilt princess!:p I just love little dogs...Yorkies especially...some people love big dogs...so what? some people are so ignorant! :rolleyes:
