It will be a month on sunday that he has been with me. Doc said to keep my fingers crossed that his balls will drop, otherwisw surgury will be a must, rupturung is an awful pssibility. His secretary called me an hour agoand id he called the original breeder @ left her a lengthy message. He was furious.I am on a fixed income,I hope if God forbid he needs surgury,he will let me do a payment plan.Meanwhile I am supposed to treat him as usual. I am so scared the balls are going to rupture.Jasper is going for a recheck on sept 5...PLease pray for us.Anyone who has had a male with testicles not in there scrotu,in there belly, please share your experience with me.I am a wreck. He is not in pain, thank God.My poor baby has comgenital defect!  :( Jasper is my |
:( I'm so sorry. I hope everything works out for you. You'll be in our prayers. |
My daughter bought a pug at 14wks and the vet said one of his testie's were up inside and not down in the soctum. Sometimes they come down on their own later in time. His did not and he had surgery and was fine. Today he is sooooo big and overweight but such a love. I hope someone else can give you more info on the subject because I can just imagine how distraut you must be. I have heard of one but not two. I'm sure it will be ok. Try and stay calm. |
I'll be praying for you - otherwise, I know nothing about your problem. I just hope it works out for you and him. So sorry this happened. |
You have a wonderful vet if he cared enough to call the breeder. My ex-vet wouldn't spit if I didn't pay him. I'm sure your vet will give you a reduced rate and let you do a payment plan. Let us know how things progress. Sandy |
Sending you a hug & prayer, gish i hope everything will be ok, ive never heard of that before, meaning i didnt know they could rupture, you are in my thougts. |
Beamer is now 17 weeks old and one of his testicals hasn't dropped yet either. The vet wasn't overly concerned yet. She said they SHOULD be down now, but soimetimes they can take as much as 6 months. He will be going in for his last shots next week and we will see if things look better then, If not, then we definitely will get him nuetered. Poor little guy. Sonya |
I am so sorry this happened to you. Thank God for good vets! He is great for calling up the breeder. This sounds like a breeder who needs to be shut down!! I will pray for you! Just continue to love your little guy! :aimeeyork :) yorkiesmiles |
Years and years ago I had a Sheltie who was cryptic. Meaning his testicles didn't drop. They reccomend surgery (Nueturing) due to rupturing but also due to the fact that there is a higher rate of cancer associated when a dog is cryptic. I hope I'm spelling that right. lol. Anyway, I'm sorry you are going through this but neutering is better for them anyway if you have no intention on breeding. Sometimes dogs are born cryptic even from teh best breeders. Although I will agree that it happens more times then it should when the pup was born in a puppymill. Elaine |
I had a dog who had to have that surgery when he was neutered and he did great. I think it may have cost me $50 more than the regular neuter and he stayed overnight at the vet but it was all 100% successful and no problem.:) |
I'm sorry for what you are going thru. How old is he? Some males take longer for their testicles to descend. I had one that had a testicle that went up and down. I neutered him after giving him time to see if his testicle would stay down and it didn't. Depends on his age. I wish you all the best. |
Sorry you are going thru this. I hope everything "falls into place" soon. I'll keep Jasper in my prayers. |
were you planning on neutering anyways???? if so its just a little more extensive, but it still can be done. |
and its called a "Cryptorchid" if you wanna research a little |

its actually quite common. |
Prayers going out for you and your pup that this works out in the end for you. The breeder should rightfully so return some of your money or pay for the surgery if needed. I am just as furious as the vet. |
I have no experience with this I just wanted to say that I hope it all works out and Jasper. We will be thinking of you. Lynn |
I never had a dog with this, but I did had a horse, and when the Doc opened him up they fell right down, and everything was fine. I'll pray you have the same outcome. |
I know what you mean about fixed income hope everything works out well for you. |

Good Luck! |
one of Armani's testicles has not dropped. The vet told me its common, a little more expensive to neuter but basically said that one 1 in 10 dogs has this. They make a small incision on the belly and basically pull the testicle out. She wants to wait until Armani is 8 months to neuter so who knows maybe it will descend by then |
I agree with everyone here that it could be that he is still young and they just haven't descended yet. It can happen to humans, too as I had a little kindergartner this year who that happened to (I have no idea why but his parents felt the need to clue me in! :p ) On another note it's nice to see another YTer from Massachusetts! :D |
its honestly not that big of a deal since he's still so young. It may drop on its own. Either way i'd have him neutered at 6 months. the procedure will just be alittle longer then a regular neuter and he'll have two incisions instead of one. Don't worry about it rupturing, its very uncommon. You're not going to do anything to make it happen. An undescended testicle doesn't hurt, he doesn't even know something is wrong. |
Keeping my fingers crossed that he'll drop by himself soon. If not it sounds like you have a GREAT vet. Good luck. |
One Ball Higgins! The breeder was upfront in telling us that Higgins had one testicle that had not dropped. Our wonderful vet was not concerned and said it probably would come down on its own. It made its appearance when Higgins was 4 months old as I recall. The vet said that if it had not dropped, that they would remove it when we neutered him and that it was a common problem and we should not worry about it too much. |
I had a poodle that was a cryporchid, he did fine just a few dollars more to neuter. He is fine. That was 6 yrs ago and he was only 2 lbs. It is very common. |
I'm sorry you're going through this. Your vet is wonderful! Prayers for you and your new puppy. |
