Jasper Prayers being sent for Jasper. He is too cute by the way. Since I have girl I cannot give you any sage advice about the problem. I will keep Jasper in my prayers. j:) |
Rocky had a testicle that didn't drop, and they took it out when they nuetered him. I know it costs more because they actually go inside them, at one vet they were charging like $400, but at another it was $160. It all depends on the prices in your area. They also told me to wait awhile and see if it drops, but by like 10months when it didn't drop, they didn't think it would and I didn't want to wait any longer. The vet said that over a year is when problems can occur, I think maybe 18months but I could be wrong, I just remember it was over a year. I'll keep your little guy in my prayers. I'm sure he'll be O.K :) |
some drop late I have had one yorkie drop testicles at 11 months old and 2 other drop at 8 months. Can the vet feel them at all? Good luck, Lynn |
Jasper My prayers are with Jasper. I feel for him, I know how it is, I almost lost my baby girl, Boobah through electrocution. She bit right through the wire and got the shock of her life. This happened the 4th of July! Its not funny, but I guess she was her own firecracker! Anyway, she is fine now, stayed in the hospital overnight, and was intensely watched. I thank Dr. Juli White, a wonder vet in Studio City,Ca. Get well, Jasper!:aimeeyork |
retained testicle is not so uncommon. it can take up to 7 months for them to drop. my vinnie's did not drop until 6 months of age. |
YorkieDr. Vicki, I have read all of the replys you are getting about your little Jasper. As I am sorry to hear about this medical problem I am a vet myself and can tell you that your vet is definitely OVER REACTING. This is VERY common in small breed puppies and your little guy is small. While he should be neutered at the appropriate age because it is more healthy and he is your pet, it is ridiculous to blame the breeder. This is not a life threatening defect, in fact it is extremely common and I believe you and your vet are jumping the gun. This small of a breed can take up to a year for the testicles to descend into the scrotum. I can also tell you that most veterinarians know nothing about breeding. You should trust your breeder! I myself used to breed Corgi's so I know about both sides. You should also be ashamed of yourself for calling someone a puppymill with NO FACTS, to back it up. That can land you in a lawsuit. |

I really hate when a vet over reacts to something as common as this. And causing so much stress for the new owner. Neutering will usually cost a little more but normally thats all and its not that much more. Relax and Enjoy your dog. I would be questioning your vets reaction as to suggesting you return your beautiful pup. I would actually be upset with him for scaring you so badly! Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |
