Layla June rescued from kill shelter
 
Hi Everyone! Just got Layla back home from Robinson. The poor girl had been in that cage over four months and surely would've been the first to be killed! She is ecstatic and I am exhausted! I'd forgotten how much strength and energy a young Lab has! Cinder seems to like her. Her tail is about 2/3 gone! They don't know what happened to it! She is really beautiful and I already love her!

The Morkie wasn't really a Morkie IMO. Cute, but looked like a Schnauzer mix to me. They said they wouldn't have any problem at all finding a home for her, so I left her. By the time I get through with Layla at the vet today I'll have spent over $200 and I just couldn't get but one! It broke my heart to see them all there and there were sooooo many cats too. Lexy is a bit intimidated by her, but she seems sweet to Lexy and I'm sure when she gets adjusted, she'll calm down. I'm taking her and cinder to swim in the lake tonight. I hope she will come back to me! Thanks for everyone's support! Elizabeth

Congrat on your new dog!! Please post pictures. Layla is one lucky dog and I know you will provide a good home for her.

You are such a wonderful person. God has a special place in heaven for people like you. I'm sure Layla will have a great time tonight at the lake with Cinder. I'm so glad you could rescue her. I can't wait to see pics of her and hear what Lexy has to say about her. :D

:(....I hopefully will be buying a house soon..next year or 2..and at that point I decided that I would like to resuce a dog from a shelter...since we will have a backyard I am thinking about getting a larger dog for my bf..lol..but also for Maximus...because he made girlfriends with what looked like 60lbs. of golden retriever and all the big dogs at Petsmart (they had a photographer there )..were really gentle with him...lol

Wow Elizabeth! I am so happy for you. Are you going to keep Layla or search for the right home for her? If you need a home, I am going to work on my dad; Labs are his favorite.

Let's see how she does here, but I might! So far, Cinder really likes her. Hubby is not so sure yet! I think he'll come around! The vet thinks she is 100% Labrador! Her tail cot cut off somewhere along the line, but she is beautiful! I'll post pics soon!

how very kind of you. thank you so very much for doing that.
i met a man the other day who picked up a stray dog off the street. the dog was mangy, dripping saliva from the mouth and such a sweet heart. he took it to the vet and got all the shots that it needed and said he was on his way (driving) back to north carolina. (with the dog). I just wanted to cry.
the world needs more people like you. :bravo:

OH that is so great of you i cant wait to see pics also. I crossed posted your other thread to another message board where someone there contacted a lab rescue they went to get the rest of the dogs and the shelter would not give them up cuz they dont have a non profit cert or something like that i posted about on your other thread.

was there lots of people there to adopt a pet?? do you know how many more got saved?? thanks sorry for all the questions

I'm a little worried about her with Lexy. Lexy is so tiny and Layla chases her. I hope she doesn't think she is a rabbit. Cinder is protective of Lexy, but she is 11 and not nearly as fast as Layla. I'm going to have to monitor them very closely until Layla adjusts to her new environment and calms down a little.

Ahhhhh......scary! Maybe she will calm down when she realizes she is staying and Lexy is part of the family? Yes, watch them very closely. If Lexy is anything like Simon she is very curious and just wants to play but has NO fear at all! I always have to watch him really close around bigger dogs becuase he tries to crawl in their mouth! I hope Layla adjusts soon!
