There is a breeder where my parents live that breeds yorkies, min pins, schnauzers, and others sometimes...typical BYB I guess. She is a receptionist at the vet's office in my parent's town. Well my parents and I were both getting yorkies at the same time and they had actually called her about what she had available (neither of us would ever buy a puppy from her now of course - we know better). Anyways - they didn't like what she had and got a puppy from a breeder in Arkansas that friends had reccomended. And Lacy came from a breeder outside of Dallas. Well I was visiting my parents over the Christmas holidays and took Lacy to the vet there for her last round of puppy vaccinations and she told me Lacy's legs were too long and she looked like she was part schnauzer. It really made me mad at the time but now my sister likes to joke that Lacy is a "Schnorkie". And now I just laugh because I know she is full yorkie...plus, we think she was just mad because we didn't get our dogs from her. But at the time she was my new baby and her ears had just stood up and were a little too big for her head and she was going through a bit of an awkward phase so it really bothered me. Lacy is proportionate - longer body, longer legs. But I've seen some of the yorkies she has bred now and they all have long bodies and short legs - I should have asked her if her yorkies were part Dachshund! I'm friends with the vet in that town (I worked for him when I was in highschool) so I always go to visit him at the clinic when I'm in town and of course always take Lacy with me. To this day, she still looks at Lacy kindof wierd and doesn't always talk very nicely about her. I'm not as nice as I used to be though and next time she migh not like hearing what I have to say back to her! |
I have a Staffy..he's 7 years old now and just the perfect dog really..i love him to death! :D When he was a puppy we took him to a friends BBQ..lots of people there making a fuss of him..well this ignorant woman says..."oh...that's what's wrong with IT...it's still got a tail"! I told her Staffys never have their tails docked! but she insisted she was right! Staffs NEVER have their tails docked! So it's not just Yorkies on the receiving end of these ignorant uneducated morons! :p |
jelousy can really be an ugly thing.....that's what he is. so don't listen just stick your nose up to them....that's what i do:woof: :woof: :dogzzz: tina |
So I thought of something that was ignorant. Usually I don't get any nasty comments, everyone is all lovey on them. :p But when Tucker was a puppy, we took him to the groomer. The lady said when my dad dropped him off "Oh. Yorkies are so nasty - they bite a lot." So my dad just kinda shrugged it off and said he'd be back in half an hour. 10 minutes later the lady called and was like "You need to come pick up your dog. He keeps biting me." Which of course we didn't believe, but my dad went to get him anyway. They made him pay in full and all she did was give him a bath. We told Tucker's breeder who reccomended us to another groomer. We went to that groomer and told her what the other lady said. She said she was sure she could handle him just fine. So when we came back she said he was a perfect angel. and what "the other idiot (groomer) thought was biting was trying to play with the brush." So we go to her now. :) |
I know the OP was hurt by the comments but this thread had to cheer her up, it sure had me rolling on the floor. The inbred one was my favorite....you could add "talking about inbred, have you slept with your cousin lately?" I loved the comment "what do you know about breeds, all you do is sit and type all day" I don't like to be rude or hurtful but if someone is rude to me they get it back and from then on they really are more careful what they say. A friend of mine lost her cocker and someone said to her "It's only a dog" how hurtful and it was a friend. Can you imagine what an enemy would say. I have never felt so sorry for anyone  |

Oh my gosh! That reminded me of when I was in hs. We had to put my dog Charlie to sleep who was my first dog ever and I loved sooo much! I was soo depressed in school and I was talking to one of my friend's about it. Then this girl i was friend's with came to the table we were at and was like what happened. My friend told her and do you know what she said?!? She was like "So, get over it. It's just a dog." That was very hurtful to me. I was so mad, we're not friends anymore but we were never close anyway. Too bad for her she never experienced the love for a pet, that's her loss. But it really hurt when she said that, cause I was already depressed to begin with :( |
im dying laughing from all you stories !! yesterday i took austin for a walk on the way home we have to cross a BUSY street so i picked him up a guy that always has comments (stroller ,clothes) was like "does he ever walk?" "you spoil that dog to much" i usally keep my mouth shut this time i said " your just jealous you have NOONE to spoil you " he said something stupid back " i said yes you would love to be hugged and push around In a stroller by me & never have to walk anywhere " and i kept walking ................................ |
 I still get a pain in my stomach when I think about my next-door neighbor saying that my little Lola looked like a "rat on a leash". The worst part was that I just froze...and didn't say anything...I think I was in shock. I felt like I let my baby down by not defending her...but I have since realized that it wasn't worth the argument. There is no changing an ignorant mind. |
my favorite one was when i was taking mika to the vet, and a guy sat down next to me and asked me why i dye my dog's hair, because it's not normal for it to have that coloring:lol tears of course this was before everyone and their mother wanted a yorkie:rolleyes: |
