Does this sound fishy? I found a lady getting rid of her yorkies. Supposely because her son is moving home and he is allergic to them. She has 7 yorkies ranging from 1-3 yrs old. She is selling them for a decent price. She says they are akc registered and she has papers on them. should i mess with this lady or should i stay clear? |
I don't know it could be true... If so she should try to rehome here. is she Giving them away, or selling or, rehoming with a adoption fee?? If she is asking to much then yes but if it is a good deal and vets say they are healty??? go for it |
Hard to tell. I'd start asking questions like did she breed them? Any health problems? Will she give you permission to speak to her Vet? Can you visit her home and see if she has a kennel (as in byb) type set up? She may have just had a couple dogs and they may have had a litter and she kept them all. Best wishes and let us know what you find out. |
she has only breed one of them. She says that this is her only yorkies. I figured she was just selling them because they didn't take on her breeding program or something. She is selling them for 450-1500. I love yorkies so i would take them anyways i just wanted other opinions on the situation. she says they are in good health and they have never been caged. I think before i got rid of my babies i would rent my son a apartment. lol. Only two of the dogs are related |
you know it kinda does sound like she may have tried to start a breeding program that didn't work out. jmho but having 7 dogs, 3years old and younger is a lot of dogs in a fairly short amount of time. and then to give them all up so easily sounds kind of odd. doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them or that they wouldn't be wonderful pets though. |
I thought Yorkies were non shedding dog's? I have allergies to shedding dogs and cats, hamsters, rabbits, and the list goes on. When I was growing up my mom only got us dogs that did not shed and they never made my allergies act up. I have a friend that has 2 Labs and I just walk in her home and my eyes water and get itchy. My mother has 2 Yorkies and I am fine in her home. I even baby sit her girls at times and they never bother my allergies.I do not see how her son could be allergic to then if that is the case. |
she has 1 - 3 yr old, 3- 1 yr olds, 2- 2 yr olds, and 1- 1 1/2 yr old |

I regards to the allergies... Aren't allergies also do to the dandur of the animal, not just hair? My daughter has seasonal allergies, but we've been extra careful with keeping her on her meds with adding Brody to our house. We're not quite sure how her allergies will react. They did flare up when we first got the cats. So we figure better safe than sorry. :) |
vet Why don't you ask to speak to her vet to see how they have been maintained health-wise? |

I have a son who is allergic to my dogs when he comes here and I even give them a bath the day he is to arrive, but it still doesn't help. He in fact did come live with us for a year after his divorce, but there was no way I was going to give up my Yorkie girls. It's my house and their house and his only temporarily. He knew the rules "before" he moved in and accepted them. Are those Yorkies registered? If they aren't then I'd ask her to give me the name/s of the people she got them from and if she can't do that then that would put a big red flag up for me. |
Did you check on those babies yet? Love to hear what you find out and if you are getting one! |
I don't know about this one! I can kinda smell a fish! Is she close enough to you that you could go and see them? I would do ALOT of checking out before I gave her anything...And like one of the posters has said...with so many yorkies being stolen I would have to wonder about this one...Just becareful Keep us posted |
She could be on the up and up. My sister is allergic to mine. She can not be around them for too long. |
Oh my gosh....your babies look just like mine. They are sitting in the same computer desk chair. Check it out! |
It does sound a lil fishy that she wants to give them ALL AWAY... hopefully they are all healthy so you can get one! :) |
Why don't you pick one, and ask if you can talk to her Vet about the dog, or if you can take it to your Vet before you buy. If she says no, I'd run. |
Is this someone you actually know in person, or is it an ad on the internet? One thing that bothers me is that there have been so many stolen yorkies. I would hate to think any of these were stolen because I know how heartbroken their owners must be feeling. I would get as much info as you can, and check to make sure they have vet records. |
Did you go check out the yoekies yet? |
re 7 yorkies I'm curious to find out how this story turns out! Hope she send photos |
