wait isnt there a way we can find out if this pup is from a mill you know thru papers and stuff kind of like how they are doing the investigation on britany spears about her yorkie and if it is a mill we can shut them down wouldnt that be nice?????? |

Congrats on your new baby, Oliver. My best advise to you regarding potty training...is...Take the puppy outside when you bring him home, first. Make sure he pottys...it may take awhile, be prepared...when he does...party, happy dance, praise like there's no tomorrow...and treat. Then and only then does his little paws touch your floors in the house. I swear by this, Winston was trained on day one...absolutely no accidents. He knew from the beginning where he was suppose to go potty...outside, and he knew it made us VERY happy...and he got a treat. What more could a new puppy want??? Good luck...remember take him outside before you take him inside your house. |

You "rescuing" this puppy from it's cage is only going to cause another poor puppy to be placed in there when you bring yours home, and you are only subjecting it's parents to a hellish life I agree with the "congrats for supporting puppymills." I just can not fathom how someone can know how horrible puppymills are and still buy a dog from a petstore. I would never buy a puppy from a petstore no matter how sorry I felt for it. I also would not want to deal with getting a poorly bred dog - poor quality and the genetic health problems they are sure to come with. So congrats again for keeping puppymills and puppy-selling petstores in business :mad: |

Yes, every person can make a difference. But not by boycotting. If you really are truly in your heart of hearts dedicated to stopping the use of puppy mills then you need to actually DO SOMETHING about it. Telling people how horrible it is, and boycotting despite the rising demand for puppies in petstores won't hurt the puppy mills at all. It is doing nothing. Calling the humane society to shut down a home where animals are being abused, is doing something. Appealing to larger companies who support puppy mills is doing something. Appealing to your state and federal government to support legislature outlawing abusive breeding practices (breeding practices, not selling pets) is doing something. Sitting on the internet chiding someone.... doing nothing during the time that you could be doing something. -O |

Three weeks ago, we bought a puppy from the Pet Company Store in Danbury, CT for 1347.16. Few days later after the purchase our dog became sick. He couldn't breath. We brought him to the emergency room. On the next day doctor said that he has a very bad pneumonia. Boss (this is the dog's name) spent 5 days in the hospital (total cost is about 3000). Boss was released and we were glad that his is fine. However, yesterday he got very sick again. Today doctor told me that pneumonia is back. I paid another 1800 for 3 days in the hospital. We signed a claim for The Pet Company and been told to wait 14 weeks for the result. I called to the store and told the representative that our dog is sick again. We don't have so much money to pay for all this hospital bills. The representative was nice in the beginning but than she said that it is our fault, that we didn't take a good care of our dog. She didn't want to give me any information or phone numbers of the manager or owner of the store. I don't know what to do. I'm sure that they won't give us the money back. We spent almost 7000. The doctor said that Boss needs to be in the hospital for at least two more weeks and it's going to cost around 10000 more. However, his chances to survive are really poor. I don't have so much money. Even if they give us our money back, who's going to explain my kids that their puppy is going to die? One family bought a basset. They have spent $8K in few weeks for vet bills. The puppy is STILL in vec clinic. That girl was asking for advice how she can sue that store. I, and other people, adviced her to push the store about "puppuy mills". etc. As I know, they got scared and promised to return the bills, but I don't know the final result yet. Either, I don't know how thet poor puppy feels now. Vet told that puppy will be on medication all his life. Although that girl did a mistake for buying a puppy in pet store, she is so good. She just didn't know about puppy mill problem that is ok, since she is from another country. She trying to sue the store NO MATTER she get money or no. She trys to collect all complains against that store. Anyway, maybe my advice is crazy, but if you still want this puppy, tell them to sell it at wholesale price. maybe you are right about that, but I told how I feel about.. Honestly, I don't know HOW explain why she shouldn't buy that puppy. Of course, it is her decision. But pleeease, don't tell "congrat with new puppy" when people support puppy millers knowing about them. I feel that you support them also:eek: . it is better to say nothing. Sorry. |
