OMG...I almost lost Kiley!!!!!! :( I just had the scare of my life. I was laying back on the couch on one of the recliners and there was a bunch of jumping and stuff under my chair. I thought the dogs were under there playing like usual and didnt think much of it but it started getting very loud. I kept yelling at them to knock it off and all of a sudden I hear a screech like a cat so I jumped off of the couch because I thought they were really fighting each other now. I crawled under and looked and the only dog under there was Kiley and I could tell she was pinned. She just layed there lifeless and I started screaming at my husband. He couldnt get her out either so his son came running and he helped him pick up the couch and it took them forever to get her out. I thought she was dead because she wasnt moving at all. I kept asking is she dead, and they would say no shes not dead. I almost had a heart attack, I am not kidding. Finally after about 5 minutes they pulled her out and she was fine. She got her head stuck when I reclined back I guess. She crapped all over herself so I am sure she was scared to death. I dont know what I would have done if I was the only one there. I couldnt have lifted the couch and held it up while I crawled under it to wedge her head out. I am going to have nightmares about this for a long time. Please beware if you have a recliner and dont recline while the dogs are around, I thought I chopped her head off. I think I am going to be sick. |
THat is soooo scary. Is she alright? You must've been so panicked? So glad your hubby and son were there to help. |
Omg! How absolutely terrifying for both of you! I am so glad she is OK! I can only imagine how you must feel. My heart was in my throat just reading it. Huge hugs to you! |
Oh my God! How terrifying. I am so happy your baby is OK. I jist put my Mom's recliner in my bedroom I have worried that something like this could happen. Thanks for the warning and hugs to both of you. |
OMG im so sorry! Good thing she is okay!!! |
 You poor things! |
Thank goodness she's okay, I'm sure you were scared to death. Heck, my heart sped up just reading the post. |
OMG that is so frightful.....I have one of those sofa's that has a recliner on both ends....plenty of times I have had the recliner up and my lil one has gone underneath....well after checking the other day I see she has been underneath chewing away to her hearts content....(when I am on the sofa watching tv she is always up with me) soooooooo not I make sure that I close it up before I get up off the sofa now...Thank you for letting us know of the possible hazzard....so many lil things with these precious lil one's of ours that we don't think about and can really harm them... |
Thank goodness she is O kay! I would of fainted on the spot! Thank you for the warning too, I hope this alerts others of the danger! I hope that you both feel better after this terrifying ordeal! |
OMG, I know just how you feel! My little girl "Sahara" got under my reclining chair when I was sitting in it, I suspected she was under it so I got out of it ever so carefully. When I looked under the chair, there she was looking like a bear rug all stretched out. Thank God that she was so very tiny because there was only about 4 inches that secured her. I was not sure if she was injured or just unable to free herself and I was afraid to move the chair and perhaps cause injury so I just kept calling her. I was so frightened because she just did not move for the longest time, then she finally backed her self out. It will give you nightmares though thank God she is all right! So sorry it happened to you and hope your little one learns a lesson. I have to watch mine all the time, she is in to everything! |
That is so scary! I'd be freaked. Glad your little one is ok! |
My dogs play under there all of the time and they go there just to get away from the others and they like to lay underneath it because it is dark under there. I have always worried that something like this would happen. It still makes me sick to think what could have happened. I was just in the breeders section asking questions because I would like to show her since she is so pretty. Everything happened so fast and she could have been taken just like that. I dont think I will ever recline again because you never know if they are under there or not. I have more than a couple to keep an eye on so it is even harder. |
What a horrible scare! I am so glad she is okay. |
I'm so glad you were able to get her out and she is ok. I am so thankful that she wasn't seriously injured - poor baby I'll be she was so scared. Bless her heart. I'm always amazed at what these little ones will get into. sending warm, fuzzy hugs for Kiley - and you. |
OMG - how terrified you must have been. Glad she is okay. Give her extra hugs from all of us!!! |
how scary! glad people were home to help you out....I would probably still be standing there screaming. Hugs to you and Kiley! |
I am so thankful someone was home and this didnt happen while we were at work. I was so helpless and couldnt even bring myself to go near them while there were trying to get her out. I honestly thought she was gone and I couldnt bear to see her. I was of no help at all and I just froze. I want to get rid of these couches with the recliners on the end now and just get regular furniture. These are dangerous. |
that is very scary. i work in a vets office and we see a lot of recliner accidents |
Oh NO! That must of made you worried sick! I'm glad she's ok! |
I am so glad your baby is ok!! I know you must have been terrified!! |
Oh my gosh I would have been terrified as well. It seems like those minutes are endless. I am so glad that he is ok. Please keep us posted. |
I am so glad that Kiley and you are okay...these little babies can scare the life out of you...give all of them big hugs & kisses...:) |
Oh my! That is absolutely terrifying. Are you both ok now? Thank you for sharing this b/c all of the furniture in our living room reclines and it makes me nervous. Lexie loves to go under and play, also. This could easily happen to anybody. Big big hugs to you and Kiley  |
Oh my God...that is frightening, I'm happy to hear Kiley is okay...and I hope you can relax now...no nightmares... I just went and checked under our recliners, although I have never seen Winston get in there...I can see how that could happen, I do always check right under the foot rest, to be sure he's not there before lowering it...but, oh it just gave me the chills to hear about this...I may never recline again either. Hugs to you both!!! |
I am glad everything turned out OK. We had a simular incident at our house when the babies were younger, so now the unspoken rule is for someone else to look under the recliner before the person sitting it in sits up. We also go up very slowly. I could not even try to imagine how I would feel if I hurt one of our babies. |
OMG thank god shes okay!!! I have a couch that has 3 recliners in it since its a huge wrap around leather sectional. I'm going to be extra careful and make sure noone is ever near there when reclining if at all now. |
MY goodness that is really scary. I hope your furbaby is still ok and you too. give her lots of love and kisses from me too |
poor thing!! i'm glad she is okay! |
Oh I am so glad that she is OK, that must have been terrible for you (and her). Thanks for the warning, I never thought of that happening before. I am so glad that she is ok. And I am sorry that you had to go through that. |
Thank you so much for the nice words everyone. Please watch those babies under the recliners. I have heard of puppies and cat being killed in them and it scares me to death what could have happened. I imagine newmommy has some stories that would scare us all since she said she has seen many recliner accidents. |
