Well I will definitely put pee pads in their room, I just want Rocco to PEE ON THEM..lol..This house is costing us quite a bit and I don't know how long it will be before we can afford to change the flooring. :( I love my babies to death but we've worked so hard to get this house I don't want them to be loosy goosy in it, you know? Now when Rocco has accidents I don't get as pissed cause its just an apartment, not really mine. But that house we've saved up for forever.I just want to do my part to ensure they transition into the new place easily and avoid many accidents. I know most accidents are my fault for failing to do something but I want to make sure they are prepared thats all.

Please do not be discouraged by my post. I spent over 30 yrs keeping carpets of all colors clean. What I have learned is this...life is too short to spend on cleaning floorings. I have laminate and tile everywhere. It has been so long since I have smelled the aroma of dog pee floating in the air on damp, rainy days, I have forgotten what it smells like...! You can do it..I am too old and tired to fight it anymore..LOL

My parents gave up on carpet, too. In the house they just sold, it was all tile. In the house they just built and are in now, it's all hardwoods. Nobie, you may wanna look at the thread entitiled, "Who has replaced their floors courtesy of their yorkies" or something like that.

Maybe you could consider replacing the floors JUST in their room..........

#3 I always put my to in there kennel if it will be a while till I can get home and the do just fine. but I never leave them more than 6 to 7 hours tops.

Well the problem is not jsut their room. I don't want them to pee in the family room or other parts of the house either. So it's not just in their room.
Lori, unfortunately the house was already carpeted with new carpets when we saw it so trust me it was NOT my choice to have white/ivory carpets :rolleyes: lol

The worst stain I ever had, was one of my kids vomiting grape juice in the dinning room...there were just too many liquids coming out of my kids and dogs to get near carpets of any color...LOL

You don't have children do you?

you know, i think you can have your carpets dyed...

it does get better as they get older. i'm having good experiences!!

No children yet :p other than my furkids. My oldest is fine, she would ever pee on the carpet, it's the puppy I'm worried about. I guess I should use belly bands on him when I let them run around the house after we get home and I'll have pee pads in their room when we're not home. He just gets so pouty when the belly bands go on him but I guess he'll have to get used to it.

It can be done. I think it helped that I work at home so i could take mine out every few hours for the first week i had him. HE was trained to go on pads but when i got him at a years age he was so easy to train to go outside, that i don't even think it took more than 3 weeks
