Your right her legs do shine. So Do you think her whole puppy coat is gone? Is the puppy coat what I am mistaken as being cottony? She has like a fuzzy underlayer, or is that just what silk yorkies have? Is both Cotton and Silk breed standard?

And I don't get this "eye reflection" thing either. I'd never heard that before.

I have pix of Ozzie with red, green, AND white/gold eyes. What does that mean? Somehow I think that may be more of an indication of the lighting conditions, distance, and as you said, Judy, the background.

I have no clue....I am just learning as we go here. :p Me learning??...scary lol Ozzie has such pretty coloring....he is very rich in color and that aburny thing going on like Bella i get asked about it all the time it. He's a pretty one

What's weird is that the auburn has just really shown up in the last 2-3 years. He was always mostly beige there before. You'd think as he aged the color would fade instead of get deeper, wouldn't you?

well here ill show ya pics of bella thru aging...i think she went from mostly black to this aburn....but here ya go...see 4 urself....

Here she is at about 4-5 months, then a year approx., then last month. Do you have picsof ozzie like this showing his color change? Bella did go thru a really gray phase...now she just has the gray streaks thru her back shown in pic 4. Diggy is hitting the gray pahse right now too, and with it mixing with all his white....he doesnt really look yorkie to me right now. Funny the phases they go thru.

Im curious too, maybe someone answered this already and i missed it, but when do the outgrow the puppy coat completely? Is it possible Bella still has some of her puppy coat? She was 2 June 6th.

I've got some, but not sure if they illustrate it best. He's always had the copper color on most of his face -- even as a baby. But it has gotten infinitely more intense -- and taken up pretty much his whole face -- in the last couple years. Really an odd change.

1) Ozzie at 11 weeks, within days of bringing him home.
2) Ozzie at 5 months
3) Ozzie at 1 year
4) Ozzie in either 2001 or 2002

And then some from teh past few months ...

hmmm she was 2 in June, but she has this fuzzy cottony under coat....maybe thats just how its supposed to be....who knows...:rolleyes:

Maybe it's longer than 2 ... I was just guessing based on the fact that by that age, they should really be done growing.

The standard states one type coat as correct..silk..but that doe snto mean a quality Yorkie with a soft/cotton coat can not be used in abreeding program..or even finished..which many are fine champions. Coat texture and color is easier to correct then structure and temperment faults..

I think Bell is a pretty silk...you might take her in a totally dark room and shine a flashlight in her eyes for a true eye flash.

okay I did it...in the bathroom tonight her eyes relected VERY green... that means silk?

:confused: I would like to know as well. I took some of Livi in the bathroom with the light off, too. I have just never heard that the flash of a camera could tell you the texture of their coat.

Well she is reflecting Green so they say that means Silky Coat. ;)

But you know what...Harley's also had a green flash and I have never considered him to have a silky coat. :confused: His is more of a combination (but definitely more cottony than silky).

Take a pic of him with Flash, if his coat shines...then they say it's silky. If no shine then cotton. Im just going by what I was told.

Oh and with Diggy and Livi being the same age. Do you notice her following around HArley and mimicing him? Diggy is in this phase of really watching Bella intensly. WHen I am eating (i know this is bad but its our game) and Bella begs, she will nod her head up and down like a chicken and growl and I do it right back at her and we go back and fourth I justthink its hilarious and Ceasar would probably wanna shoot me lol anyway Diggy will sit right next to her and when she nods, he tries doing it facing her tho not even begging from me. If she takes a bite of food, he has to take a bite. If she lays down he lays down. If she barks at the door, he barks...he doesnt even know what he is barking at cuz he goes in circles while she is staring relentlessly at the door his is bouncing around barking when she does totally clueless. Its just getting really obvious he is trying to be EXACTLY like her. is Livi going thru that?

Also can check eye color with flashlight in dark place.:)

OH MYGOSH...THAT IS TOO CUTE!!!!! I am laughing at how sweet that is! Livi would love nothing more than to follow Harley around and do whatever he is doing (she thinks he hung the moon and stars). However, Harley is hateful to her!! He growls and shows his teeth at her...he's all talk, but still so mean of him! :( He has such a low tolerance for other dogs. He will eventually get over it but he will never REALLY love being with her. She doesn't get it because she just wants to love all over him. I wish Harley behaved like Bella does with Diggy...they sound soooooooooo cute together. :)

Well trust me Bella has her moments but I can say 99% of the time she is VERY tolerant of Diggy, being he even gets on my nerves!! I give Bella her own time. Like when we go outside for potty time he always goes right away and I will put him back inside so she gets alone time with me, and Diggy just plays with whoevers inside. she also sleeps under the covers with me and I dont allow him too, well he hasnt really showed interest so she has her few things that is just her and I. I try to keep any jealousy or resentment to a minimum. I thought for sure she would hate him...but instead she thinks she is his mother so that helped. She corrects him and watches over him closely. She has even turned on me a few times, when DIggy gets hurt at all he is FULL of drama whines and carries on like no other and she FREAKS OUT so when I pick him up when he is crying, not sure if she thinks I am hurting him or what but she bites at me like GIVE HIM BACK and when I sit him down she holds him down and sniffs him from head to paw! When I asked for advice on what to do about her getting so upset and biting at me maost said get her a trainer, but the more I think about it, SHeis doing what her instincts tell her and we as mothers sure do run to our kids defense quick and sometimes out of line but thats what makes us moms....and I truely believe thats what she is doing. Its only over him crying and well I actually like it, so no trainer we just watched over her close and watch what we do if he is crying.

well my lucy reflects green in her eyes so I guess she'll be a silky coat. Our max is def. a silky coat but in pictures his eyes reflect yellow/gold does anyone elses do that?

Also i attached two pictures of lucy her colors said she was black/gold I know you don't really know until they're older she's 3 months but I didn't know if anyone else Yorkie had the look she has and what there adult looks like now.
