Look what Hannah caught, now she is sick.. 1 Attachment(s) Hannah caught a snake! It is just a garder snake but now she is vomiting. She started eating grass shortly after catching the snake and then she vomited. She didn't bite it too hard because it doesn't have any broken skin. She and Heidi (the new kitten) was chasing and pawing the snake...( I guess Hannah and Heidi are fearless together, Bentley doesn't get into anything). |
oh my goodness i hope she is okay. What did you do after--take her to the ER/what did you give her? I hope it really is just a garden snake. I hope she starts getting better soon! I'm so sorry --what a scare!! |
OMG--that is scary!!!! I do not like snakes and I hope Emmy and Oscar do not like them either!!! I am so glad it wasn't a poisonous one! |
We don't have a er vet here and my vet is not in today. She has not vomited any more, I will watch her close. |
Did you give her some Benadryl? |
That's a garder snake? I always thought they were more black. Did it bite her? I think I'd take her in. |
What I want to know is how the heck did you stay calm enough to put the snake in a jar??? |
How is she feeling now? |

Scary!!! I thought garter snakes were black with the long yellow stripes running down on each side of it's body. I have had one of them in my yard this summer and I screamed when it ran out from a bush I was watering. Luckily, my Zachary has never seen it yet. You might want to look up snakes on google and compare pictures to see what it is for certain. I am glad your baby isn't throwing up anymore, it could have been from all the excitement of finding that ugly and scary snake. |

I think it is a young garter snake. There are a lot of different species and they look different. They don't all have yellow strips. Garter snakes also secrete a funky smelling fluid when they are scared so that could be what made her sick. |
I think it looks like a rat snake. They are harmless. They also can get HUGE!! Yuck, Yuck & Yuck!! |
It could be this: Checkered Garter Snake, Thamnophis marcianus. Maybe a young one. That's kind of what it looks like to me. They are native to the Southern part of the US. |
That is your new pet snake; her name is Heather! LOL :p |
