How much harder is three? Wesley is 1 year and 10 months old and Maddie is 1 year and 5 months old. Lately I have been really thinking about getting a third. I was just wondering how much harder three is than two. Getting Maddie didn't make things much harder at all. Actually it is easier in some ways because I don't feel guilty about leaving home because they always have each other and they also tire each other out playing. But when I think about getting a third, it seems like it will be alot harder. For instance, I have two arms, so if something happens I can scoop them up, one in each arm. But I won't be able to with three. And I'm also wondering about walks. I imagine the leashes getting tangled with three. I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has three or more. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork P.S. I'm not planning on getting another anytime soon, I will definately wait until Maddie is at least 2. But I still like thinking about it. :p |
I am interested on the feed back on this one as well I have 2 yorkies and one big boy mastiff but lately I am realy wanting a biewer... |
I had Maya a 8 year old pom when I got Cali and it was not a lot more work. Then I got Pixie and not alot more work just not able to really walk all 3. I have but them in a stroller and let 1 0r 2 walk while one is in the stroller but it is not very easy, I love having 3 other than that and of course it is more expensive as far as vet bills! |
I would so get a third but my city only lets me have two :thumbdown I don't think 2 dogs are much more work than one. Same with two to three. The more the merrier. :p |
The joy of dogs I have 5 dogs only one a yorkie and they give me the greatest joy.I have had a very hard year and they have kept me going. It is busy but it is my passion.Good luck. |

Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I should move. :p :aimeeyork or start getting cats. I can have 3 of those:cat: |
I have 4 yorkies, 1 border collie and 3 new born yorkie puppies and I don't find having 3 or more that much more work at all. If you have room in your heart and home I say why not. The hardest part was waiting for my female to whelp the puppies as many of you YT'ers know, lol. |
:D I have 3 beautiful girls. Varied sizes. You would be surprised how fast you can scoop them up. :D I wish I could afford 5 or 6. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork They are my babies. I say go for it!!:yorkiesar You won't regret it!:animal36 |
We had just a Yorkie and a Maltese when we decided to get another Yorkie. CoCo was already almost 9 months-old when we got her and wee wee pad trained so we didn't have to go through the whole potty-training stage again. I have to say that getting a third was a great thing in many ways because our Maltese doesn't like to play much and our Yorkie needed someone who would enjoy playing more. It is more difficult to take them places when you have three and it is more expensive all the way around BUT the joy that CoCo has brought outweighs all that. We do have our problems with her such as agressiveness towards children, which we are working on and we have had to stop letting her sleep in our bed because she was peeing in the bed a couple of times a week. After doing some investigating we realized that that she was 'marking' her territory in the bed because she has become the alpha dog. We tried the diaper thing at night but she's like Houdini and was always able to get out of them!! I love having three and I wouldn't change a thing but just remember that with three there will be a bit more work and expensive. But it's it just another one to give you sweet Yorkie kisses too, right???:D |
Yea I would just think that it would be harder to take them out. It's hard sometimes as it is now to take out Teddy and London together because they both pull on the leash so they get the leashes all tangled up and usually i just pick up London and have Teddy walk. If I had three how in the heck would I walk them..it would prob have to be at diff. times but oh well I'm willing to do that. As for spening more money I would probably only spend more because I love buying clothes for them, especially matching outfits :p But on food, toys, etc it would be the same because they share and I buy a big bag of food. |

i was scared about that to but one day i had all 3 of my big boys outside and a large agressive dog came down the block without thinking i just grabbed all 3 and went inside when i walk in with all my my mother was dying laughing i still dont know how i did it but i did lol i really dont see 3 any different than when i had 2 i dont walk all 3 of mine for other reasons but im sure i could if you get yours well leashed trained then i dont see it being a problem if you have enough time and money i dont see why not |

Special Circumstances Artie was my first Yorkie, I had extensive experience with other Breeds, every thing from a Rottweiler, Pitbull, St. Bernard, Labrador Retriever to a Mutt! He was a year and a half before I got Abigail, I took him with me to the Breeders and they chose each other! They have been inseperable ever since, last year they had a litter of 3 puppies = 1 male and 2 females. I ended up keeping the runt female - Tiffany Aloha, but at one point I had all 5! They all follow each other, they are never more than 3 ft. away from me. They train each other and they are all on the same schedule of eating and pooing. Luckily I don't have any problems, but the only time it seems like alot of work is Bathing/Grooming, since I do it all myself to save money and I got tired of paying for someone else cutting too much hair in the wrong places! The only other time that it seems like 3 is too many is paying for 3 Vet. bills! Other than that if you can handle 2, you can handle 3? There isn't much difference as long as they all get along! But my special circumstances are.....that they are a Family. If anything ever happened to any one of them, I would never try to replace it with another Yorkie. I guess because I love them so much it never seems like a burden in any way, I always say the more the merrier since Yorkies are the best breed! Good Luck in deciding, Aloha |
 three is great 4 is alot of work, I was not expecting my last eddition, she was a surprise gift, but she fit right in with rest, she cracks me up because she tries to do things they do and cant yet, as far as walking goes, i only walk one at a time for i can only pick one up, but having 4 is a pleasure, i love them all so much, i fell in love right away with molly, vet bills can be a bit high, i just pray everyday my kids stay healthy, i say go for it:thumbup: |
