As far as anesthetic goes. Ask your vet about a test that helps indicate if your baby will recact to it. My vet did one. I believe it goves a blood count, shows liver enzymes, shows blood sugar, and a few other things. Many vets have ran this test before the surgery and actually cancelled the surgery because something showed up high or low i the blood. Its a good pre-cautionary measure and only cost me $36.

That is awesome that you took this boy in and gave him a chance that he wouldnt have gotten otherwise. You have a very big heart for doing that knowing he is going to need ongoing care. I hope he gets settled in and realizes that you arent going to abuse him like he obviously has been in the past and will start to play well with the other dogs. First off welcome to YT. I know you will love all the help from such a wonderful group of very careing people.
Your an angel for helping our little friends. He sounds like one who has never known what love and happiness is all about. He does sound exactly like a puppy mill dog. Poor guy. Most mill dogs ARE humpers because that is all they have ever known. Once he's on the mend and learning where his place is in the pack, he will be so happy, and not try to dominate. Just show him all the fun things to do and play with. I'm sure he will settle down into a happy life.

I'm not sure just yet. The vets going to see him back tomorrow to run some tests. I want him to do some blood work because I think Jack is anemic because of the color of his skin & gums. Thankfully he wont lose all of his teeth they can be cleaned but he needs a round of antibiotics first. He went to the groomers today and did so good... I was so proud of him. I was worried he would nip! I am having a terrible time getting him to eat. I have tried everything. So far all he even attemps to eat is pedigree puppy in the pouch. Someone told me today to boil him some chicken... any opinions on this? I dont know if he was originally from a puppy mill but I dont think so. Someone had taken him to have his dew claws removed and his tail is docked. The person I got him from had a dozen excuses but it all boiled down to the fact that she did not have time to care for him. He was a gift to her from her dying father so she had a hard time letting go but she did do the right thing by giving him to me. Granted it took her TOO long but I have him now and thats whats important :) He already has a strong bond with me... its a bit of a problem so far though because any time Toot Toot tries to get in my lap he jumps on her. He is looking right at me and peeing in the floor as I sit here watching him! When I scold him with the tone of my voice he cowers and makes me feel bad... lol
