help! i have trouble getting bailey off me!! shes sweet but shes on me 24/7! i go to eat in my lap i go to the bathroom scracting the door trying to get in! i need a little room but shes only 10 wks. |
I am no help here except to say be glad you just have one sitting on you and in the bathroom with you. Try having 9 sitting on you whenever you sit down or lay down. Sometimes I feel like I have an elephant sitting on me. |
ok thanx |
all i can say is get used to it. all puppies do this and skoshi is almost 7months and still does it. |
I have the same thing going on here and don't know what to tell you....she loves you!! |
Lol , I have 4 at my feet where ever iam at:) Hubby always jokes and says i should of just named them shadow # 1 #2 # 3 # 4 i love it:) im never lonley:D |
awww she just wants to be close to you! Try giving her a toy or something she can chew on when you want some time to yourself and see if that helps. You can also try crating her while you eat. good luck! |
It must be a Yorkie thing!! I have two that do the exact same thing, except now they don't scratch at the bathroom door, but they lay down inches from it! If I don't want to hold them when I'm on the computer I just ignore them and they will go lay in their beds. I've NEVER acknowledged them at the table at all. I don't like dogs begging or wanting picked up at the table. I put them in the expen when we would eat till they were over a year old, then after that we totally ignored them if they came around while we were eating. They don't even give us a second look now. It's all about ignoring when you don't want them being pesty. |

I got me a yorkie because they do those things. So I can't be any help to you either. P.S. They don't outgrown it :D |
Hi, Welcome to Yorkie Talk. If Bailey's only 10 wks old then the only thing that she knows is to "follow-the-leader" (& eat poop but we'll save that one for later). Sometimes they go through a "fear period" at 3-4 months and will stick like glue to you. She'll become more independant when she's older, she's still a little baby. Just talk to her and if you have to crate her when you eat and go to the bathroom, then do it. You can start giving her limits now, a little at a time. She'll learn it now (in the next 6 mos) and it'll pay off when she's older. They are curious and tenacious and so smart, they just are not born understanding our language. Give her Yorkie Hugs from us, post some pictures of your little darling if you can & again, Welcome. |
There are 3 laps in this household, but all four sit with me in my chair. |
same problem here for over a year with no solution! |
ditto here...nathan waits for me at the bathroom door..:) .he is not allowed in the kitchen and is getting that in his head and will lay at the entrance to the kitchen door thus we are nipping in the bud early the begging for food stage! :) :) and i don't want him in the kitchen while i am cooking and something hot falls on him or i don't see him under my feet and fall etc with something in my hands so to prevent all of that he is not allowed in the kitchen...other wise he follows me all over the house and I have gotten use to it and he is in my lap now as I am typing asleep...he won't go into his playpen til i go to bed :) but congrats on your new baby!!! |
I would consider my self a lucky mom. Gizmo has gotten so independant in his 5 years. When he comes over and falls asleep next to me with his head on my lap I just melt. :) |
awwwww little sweetie. i know what you mean. vinny will not go into the bathroom. he just sits at the door and barks at me. i think the bathroom is scary for him. |
Welcome to YT I know just what you mean--x2. Emmy and Oscar are my shadows, too. They love to go in the bathroom with me! Funny--they just sit at my feet and watch! hehe. As for mealtimes, we put the pups food bowls on the floor beside us when we sit down to eat. They want to be near you and don't like to eat alone. They are fine then. We don't feed them from our plates, though. They just have their dog food in the bowls. After we finish and clean the kitchen, we head outside for a short walk and potty break. Good luck... |
dogs that stay on us Quote:
I have two Bichons, ages 10 and 8, and they are both like that and have been all their lives. They do go off on their own and play or nap, but they still want to be near me, on my lap when I sit down, next to me when I'm at the table (although they aren't allowed to beg), and definitely next to me when I'm in the bathroom or with their noses at the door if I make them stay outside. They would go into the shower with me if I'd let them and have their little black noses stuck in everything I do. They look in the frig when I open it and into every cabinet I open and want to see any bag or box. They are both next to me right now in their snuggle beds. I wouldn't have them any other way. |
All I'll say is enjoy it. Because when they are gone your lap is an empty place. Mine will be full again today!!!! |
I have one that wants me only when I'm in the bathroom and sitting down! Puppies want to be with you. You are the mommy. If your feelling like you need a break have you ever thought of getting a playpen and putting a bed and toys in there so when you really need to have a break she will get used to it. |
