Dog Tags how do you all keep baby's tags on since a collar is not safe....and what if they accidentally escaped house. I will be a brand new Mom in two weeks and I had thought to keep a collar on w/ tags , but use a harness for leash time.??? |
A collar is fine for tags, just use a harness for a walk. I used to keep their rabies and ID tags on their collars because we are required to have them, but they are too bulky so now I just keep them on my bulletin board. They always have ID tags on and they are microchipped. |
You'll hear lots of differences on this one. I use harnesses for walking. Marcel wears his collar when we're home bc he MUST wear a bell - he's only 2 pounds. He has a tag (non-dangling) on there as well and will eventually get microchipped. Wylie is chipped and wears his collar w/ tags 24/7 - he is 7.5 pounds and we've never had a single problem. If collaring, DON'T follow the large dog rule - "2 fingers btwn collar neck". You have to correlate this rule to a yorkie size - at best, you want to *just* fit one finger in there. |
kitty collar w bell We got Zoey a kitty collar at Target. It snaps closed, but will pull apart if it gets hung on something. It has a tiny bell so we dont step on her accidentally. They best part...Its purple and glittery! You can see it in her photo galley pics. |
My two have their id tags, rabies, microchip tag,& bells on their harness. Works great and all that jingling lets me know where they are all the time. |
I was wondering the same thing! Since London is so small her rabies tag, other tags are too bulky and heavy for her neck to carry, she doesn't have on anything when she's home except her clothes, etc. I wonder how would ppl know to contact me if any of them ever get lost:confused: |
Morgan is 4lbs and has a collar made by Tiger's Mom that she wears most of the time. It has her ID tag and HomeAgain tag on it. They are not too heavy for her and i like the jingling sound they make so i know where she is. if i don't hear jingling and i dont see her then i know she's up to no good  |

Honestly this is the only reason I leave their harnesses on all the time, is for the tags. I make sure that the harness is snugly fit, not too tight and not loose. I check it several times a week also, and do have to adjust the harnesses periodically because they tend to loosen especially after several walks or outings. |
I have all mine chipped and their tags on the refrig. It does worry me that they don't have their tags on them but they are so big for them. We are just really careful we know where they are when doors are open. |
If you don't want to get metal tags you can always get an embroidered collar that has the information on it. http://www.pettags.com/ :aimeeyork Chelle |

with my phone number and their names embroidered on it all the time in the house. also have them microchipped ... I just make sure there are no hazards around. Tags are always attached to harness as well. |
I got Buttercup's tag made on www.petcarerx.com You can customize the tag to engrave on both sides On one side is his name and my phone number on the back is his microchip ID# and place of registration which is 24PetWatch.com |
