New puppy - so far so good! We are on day 5 of owning our new puppy Mickey. So far he is doing his business outside 95% of the time and waits for his treat after. He sleeps from 9:30 pm til about 3 am (in a crate) then cries to go outside. Then he goes back to sleep til about 8:00 am. Mickey is 11 weeks old and loves us as much as we love him - what a sweetie he is.

I was lucky to get him from a family who really socialized the pups and worked on some potty training before we got him. He was going on pee pads and outside - we are working toward outside only now that we have him. Consistancy is the key and taking him out ALOT and much praise. (and a small treat) Yorkies are very smart - this is the first one for me, I also have a male Cairn Terrier and have had Westies in the past. It's important to have him go outside because I don't want potty wars between the Cairn and the Yorkie in the house. Also - I'm glad we waited till Mickey was at least 11 weeks before bringing him home - age makes a big difference, I think.

Welcome to Yorkie Talk Mickey &ME!! He is a real cutie! Congratulations on the potty training too. That's phenomenal for 11 weeks. How does the cairn like him? I have a westie who "puts up with the yorkies". She is the alpha dog and is the smartest so she cannot understand for the life of her WHY we had to get these puppies??

Hello! I am on day 8 of having my little 11 week old boy Keeley. He "came potty trained" too. (For the most part he has his accidents here and there still, but not too often). Our breeder sounds a lot like yours, worked hard on socilaization and paper training and didn't want him out of the house until about 10 weeks. Anyway-- Mickey is such a cutie! And I can't wait to get to know you. I do have a question for you though, has he gotten a trim? Keeleys hair is out of control long on his face. The tips are all still black. Mickey looks so spiffy compared to my shaggy-do. Welcome to Yorkie Talk, I have been here about a week and have already had so many questions answered.

What a Precious Pup he is! All these yorkie pictures make me want to have mine already(one more week and counting down). I know patience is a virtue, but I may not have this quality, lol. ~Bella & Maria~

| 11 weeks? He look so much younger. Angel's puppies are only 5 weeks old today and they look EXACTLY the same. Very short hair, small in size etc.

The first picture was when was younger - the only one I had at work when I posted the original message. I posted a more current one and also one with his brother Farley. Farley is still getting over the shock of having a puppy in the house but seems interested in Mickey. It will just take time I guess. Hopefully they will be fast friends some day.
