Don't cut your dog's hair unless you know what you're doing!

I took Max to the groomer on Friday and he looked cute when I picked him up, but I wasn't crazy about the do. I was in a rush - I had to go get my hair done. The more I looked at him, the less I liked it.

I had wanted it cut short again, like in his avatar picture. I figured, how hard can it be to just angle the sides?.......Need I say more?

I called the groomer to bring him back so that she could repair the damage I had done, but they were closing and I have to wait until Tuesday. (Which she told me after she stopped laughing at me!) I'm just afraid that it will be too short now.

The funny thing is that I have gotten several requests for pictures of his haircut so that YTers could get their dogs cut like his. Poor Max - he's not going to look like that for a while!

Awww, that's not so bad, Mom!!!! It's only hair and will grow back At least you trimmed him without nicking his ear or something He sure is adorable, I love his coloring!

Thanks guys, but it's all choppy - you know how nice and even they look after a haircut. He looks uneven. I could put gel in and spike it....

Personally, I think you did a GREAT job. Max is cute as a button AND I didn't see any nicks or blood on either of you.

I can't even manage to trim a bit around the bottom, feet, or bangs...I think he looks really good! CUTE!

if you gel it and spike it, you are REQUIRED to post picture (surely there are rules posted somewhere to back me up...)

No...it's a law! My groomer will be so mad at me if I put gel in there after messing up the haircut though, she might take the scissors to me!

I think he looks adorable. I picked up Conner from the groomer yesterday, and he looks like a lion!!! His body was shaved short, and the hair on top of his head is a little long. He'll grow out, and it is going to be in the 90's on Tues and Wed. so I guess it's okay (I'll just have to put a shirt on him when we go out).

He looks great to me, and we all need a change with our "do" once in a while. I also tried to be groomer once, and Sophie had a full length coat which I trimmed up too short. The last time and made sure she was only groomed by my professional. Think we all have taken the scissors or trimmer to our pups and then were aghast at the results.

Looks to me like you did a great job. I sure can't see any mistakes.

Once after I "butchered" Daisy's hair and had her in Petsmart. A lady walked up and told me her hair cut was soooo cute and asked where I had her groomed. I proudly said "I did it myself" and she went on and on how cute she looked. I chuckled all the way to the car. I just couldn't believe I got a compliment on her hair cut. lol

I think Max looks great in all of the pictures. So does his mommy!!

Good advice. I learned the hard way it looks easier than it is. He looks fine though.
