Fund Raiser for a YT Cook Book! with admins permission, we are going to have a fund raiser for YT Cook Books. This will be a cook book for human recipes and doggie recipes. YT members will be able to submit their favorite recipes, but with the copyright laws, I'm not sure yet if you will be able to submit recipes from other cook books, such as betty crocker, kraft, Martha Stewart, Rachael Ray just to name a few. Were guessing the cooks books will run apx $10.00 These will make great X Mas Gifts or even GE Gifts. All Proceeds will go to YT, so please show your support for are favorite place to be! With out YT, we would all be lost! YT is such a wonderful place and we have some of the most truly wonderful people here! I have no idea what I would ever do without YT or all my great friends here! So what better way to show YT that we appreciate them? Let's support are Yorkie Family!!! I posted this in the poll section too but are the proceeds going to YT or to a rescue organization? The threads say different things and I'm confused (not that it's abnormal for me to be confused, haha) |

Individual recipes are not copyrighted. Compilations of recipes are, as well as the unique stories and such that goes with it. So as far as I recall, the magic number was 3. If you were including 3 recipes from any one book, then it was copyright infringement. If you take a so-and-so's recipe for say tuna casserole, and you have found that you don't add peas to it, but greenbeans, it is YOUR recipe now anyway. Maybe you don't add 1/4 ts black pepper, but 1/8 teaspoon. Same thing. Maybe you don't boil your noodles first, but add extra liquid to it and bake it all together--see where I'm going...:) Hope that helps, |

The rule about not including more than 3 recipes from a single cookbook is really just a rule of thumb and not a strict requirement. You can avoid the copyright issue by writing your own instructions to a recipe and not copying them directly from the source or as Mistyinca stated, change/add an ingredient. In any case you should mention where you got the recipe as a courtesy. |

This is a fantastic idea. I thank you for taking this project on. Often when someone mentions food here I have thought that a YT cookbook would be fun. I am thinking I would want to buy at least 3 if they are $10.00 each, maybe more. Using the proceeds to help keep YT up and running is ok by me - it takes a lot of $$ each month to manage a site as large as YT. Maybe if there is enough profit we could sweet-talk Admin into donating a chunk to the United Rescue Fund. I have always found him to be more than fair and reasonable. If you haven't already decided upon a name yet, YorkieTalk Cooks! is short sweet and simple. |

I would buy about 3 of the books. I have a Chihuahua Rescue cookbook that is like the one we want to do and it's really nice. It has pictures of some of the dogs in there and the last chapter is for doggie treats. |

I do believe we have enough poll votes to go forward on the cook book! I will be contacting http://www.morriscookbooks.com/default.asp?ref=ovwb who will be the publisher. We will have a contest on the Title of the cook book. Sandshara will be designing the front cover of the book. Lillie and Baby will be on the front cover. We will have some contest for other Yorkies to be in the book. So please keep checking back for more details! Thanks all who has supported this idea! |

Missy has been doing a GREAT job keeping this going and making the cookbook a reality. The finished product is going to knock your socks off!!! I'm going to order 4 more to give as gifts. What a great gift for any Dog Lover! WAY TO GO MISSY!!!:clapsmile |
