Why ist everyone so picky? 2 Attachment(s) When we were looking to purchase a yorkie we looked for a few things. One that would be bigger and still meat the standards. We have a big dog (german shepherd mix) and also we are looking at breading. Addie has a grand champion grandfather and her fathers has also won a number of showing awards (just not enough for champion yet). I personally think she resembles the breed beautifully and her breeder even said she has great coloring. But why all these comments from EVERYONE and their mother? We get comments all the time that she is big, that why didn't we get a teacup yorkie, that smaller is better. Someone told us she just HAD to be a silky because all yorkies are small (like 4 lbs). I have even avoided going to our local yorkie group because one woman insisted on referring to her as a tank (her yorkie was under 3lbs). What do you think? I'm not sure on her weight right now, but her parents were both 5 and 6 lbs and the vet said she should get 6lbs. I know size small clothing is too big and the Xs fits, but is just a little too snug to be comfy and she is 8 months old. here are some recent pics |
Well, I think she's gorgeous and I say screw anyone who doesn't! :D |
I think she is BEAUTIFUL!! Most people whom believe smaller is better are just uneducated! The smaller the dog, the more likely it is to have health problems (not that all small yorkies have health problems) and more likely to get stepped on! |

and as far as someone telling you you should have got a teacup ....that's plain ignorant -you should have told them if they knew anything about this breed.... they'd know there is NO teacup yorkie. |

The rude comments are made by ignorant people or it's a way for them to get your attention so they can admire and pet your baby. Let's just call it a Yorkie Pick-up Line! If you feel you need to say anything to them just tell them she is well within the AKC standard which is 7 pound or less and start telling them how smart and sweet your little pumpkin is! I have a 9 pounder - And I am so proud of her and love to show her off! I get comments about her size all the time and I just smile and say "lucky me! I have more to Love"! |
I'm being 100 percent honest here...she is one of the prettiest yorkies I've seen. I love her face and coloring, and guess what? She looks 100% yorkie to me. If that woman would have called my yorkie a tank, she would have been hurtin for certain. That is so disrespectful!!! I think you need to go back there and tell them that, you know what? The STANDARD is up to 7 lbs, and tell them they don't have a clue what they're talking about and there is no such thing as a teacup. What ignorant people! Just enjoy your yorkie and leave them to their "teacup" business...grrr... |
Don't listen to those idiots! The standard says a Yorkshire Terrier is 7lbs and under. I doubt you'll find someone showing a 3lb yorkie. Aren't the show ones normally 5-7lbs? My Lacy is 7lbs and she's larger than some I see at work (looks big compared to my boss's 3lb and 3.8lb yorkies) but you should see some of the oversized ones that come in. Your baby is beautiful too by the way. |
Those people are just rude :thumbdown Your little girl is just beautiful!! I love her face...........;) PRECIOUS :) |
She is adorable !!! I would care less what people think with a beauty like that!!!!:) |
She is absolutly beautiful:) |
Seth is 8lbs and Sasha is 6.5lbs I would love them if they were 40 lbs. I agree with screw them attitude Addy is beautiful, the little ones, the big ones, they are all our babies and they are gorgeous. :aimeeyork :D :aimeeyork |
she is gorgeous! Some people should learn to keep their comments to themselves........ |
A TANK!!?? Oh no...she did NOT just say that! Girlfriend...I would have said some SERIOUSLY rude things to that ....person. OMG! She is absolutely beautiful! |
She is beautiful. I have a 10 pounder and think he is the cutest thing on four legs!!! Ignore those people. |
JeAlOuSy!! All I can say i anyone who says she is anything other than gorgeous is WaCk!!! SHe has the sweetest little face, and SO FRIGGIN WHAT if she isnt what they consider standard.....Do they even know what standard is?? Obviously not...I mean they think a teacup is even a dog??? Thats nothing but a poorly bred dog, with a high risk of health issues, and purchaed for vain reasons (unless your trying to save it) You just keep loving your dog and if they dont wanna see her WHO CARES all I can hope for is you keep posting pic of her for us to look at!!!!:D :D :D :p :p :p Oh and Diggy says she is a hottie! :aimeeyork |
She's gorgeous! I love her coloring. Ignore what they say about her size. |
she is so pretty, ignore them and enjoy showing her off...most people will ohhhhhhh and ahhhhhhhhh all over her :) |
I do not understand how people can be sooo rude! I think your baby is gorgeous!! :) Enjoy her, and I agree, you should go to your yorkie meet-ups. I dare anyone to say negative things about her. |
your baby is adorable and cute!!!! I cannot believe the things some people say. Does she feel she is better than others. Shhheeeez! |
People are just downright rude and nuts!! She is one of the prettiest little girls I have ever seen! |
IS SHE KIDDING??? Addie is a doll baby and a perfect size!! |
She's beautiful and is within the standard size. My Max is 8 pounds. I've never had any call him a tank, but I have been asked why he is so big. I calmly answer that Yorkies come in all sizes, and that their friend's, sister's, aunt's, whoever's 3 pound Yorkie is simply smaller. If they get pushy about the teacup thing, I explain that there really is no such thing, it's just a way for some breeders to charge more. Remember - be calm and assertive with naughty people! They need a pack leader. |
She is absolutely gorgeous! People can be so ignorant. 6 pounds isn't even that big!!! Owning a yorkie has made me realize how stupid people are!!! The majority of people who stop me and ask about Izzie (6 months old) always ask if I'm going to breed her. I always say "No." Then they ask why because "she's beautiful" or "you could make a lot of money selling her puppies." I always just say "She's 3.5 pounds, she's too little to breed her." I always love how people always assume that she's a teacup. Hello!?! Idiots...there's no such thing. I even catch my mom saying that her daughter has the 'cutest teacup Yorkie...' grrr... :) |
Some people are just ignorant, rude and idiotic! I mean, really, get a life. People make such a fuss over size. Good grief, no matter what the size, it's a DOG!!!! GRRRR |

I think she is beautiful. People can be so stupid, it is always the ones that doesn't know anything about yorkies that think they know it all. When i got my maltese Bentley a girl from work told me he was not 100% pure bred because he was too big and his coat looked funny. She said that she had a maltese once and hers was tiny "like they are supposed to be". She also said that Bentley had a yellowish spot on his ear and he wasn't supposed to have that and I told her that it was a lemon spot and that is acceptable in the AKC standard and his weight is also within the standard and if she knew anything about the breed she would have known that. Well turns out that his weight will probably go over the standard but I don't care and no one else should either. The next time someone tells you that your baby is too big tell them to PI$$ OFF. |
She is gorgeous!!! She really is a beautiful girl! Don't listen to anyone telling you she's not perfect...because she is! |

She is beautiful and AKC is 4-7 pounds. How rude to call your pup a name like "Tank". My local meetup have 80% standard, and the rest are sweet Yorkie mix. Sophie was AKC and 5.5 at her heaviest which lasted about one month; Charlie is 9.7, not purebred but the most wonderful pup. You know, people says silly things that are actually a reflection of how they feel about themselves. |
