Exactly. It can be difficult to advocate sometimes when up against certain personalities - but if enough consumers do it, it WILL become the gold standard.

We had a vet years ago who worked primarily with livestock. He was great with small animals as well but rather conservative. He said that if our can never went outdoors, the only shot he needed was for rabies and that was only because it would protect us in case he ever bit someone. Today, there is a vet just down the street that says we should vaccinate our cat for everything because "we can bring things home to him on our clothes". I think that the second vet just wants to make lots of money! I took our Yorkie there to board, and the second time we went, we were told we needed to give her a shot for "stress diarrhea". Our vet never said that, and the first time we left her they didn't do that. Has anyone heard of this?

I have never heard of that. I thought it was the bordetella that they needed in order to be boarded. Weird!

LOL... My vet is one step ahead on this one. He was all for not giving the vaccine after a year, but instead insisted on drawing blood for a titer. That cost about double what the vaccine would have cost. :eek: Geez. Sometimes you can't win, can you? :D

My vet told me the city government is the ones who regulate the VAC. and that is why it varies depending on the state and county you live in. I wanna see their vet degree:mad:

hmmm i would really need hard proof to stop cause what if there wrong and our babies get sick from not getting
all my boys are due for there shots were going in a couple days well see after these what i decide to do

Hmmm...I've read in several places that the only vaccine that's Legally required is the rabies...I don't think that the city can mandate which other vaccines you choose to give your dog, but maybe each city is different?

I've been thinking about posting this question because Max is due in August for his yearly vaccinations. Thanks for all the info, but I wonder what the law in NY is regarding rabies. I also send him to Doggie Day Care every so often and they may require it. I'm going to call them. He does need the Bordatella every 6 months for day care.

My vet too. He even gave them a "Holistic" dose for the rabies, just enough to satisfy the State requirement. I LOVE my vet!
