What color is this? 3 Attachment(s) I always get asked what color Bella is....I never know what to say. I wouldn't call it red, but it's not really the typical tan either....so what would you call it? She will be 2 June 9th, will her hair change even more or is this it? My breeder claims they change until 5 years old....Is this true? |
Bella is beautiful! Her coloring reminds me a little of Jake's, which I refer to as blonde. He has alot of blonde on his face, head and neck, and his legs and paws are more blonde than tan. I love the blonde coloring! |
2 Attachment(s) Why she's just GORGEOUS, that's what she is. You should think of some hair salon color for her, like 'carmel' or 'hazelnut'. ( I don't even know what color hazelnut would be.) She's got an EXTREME head tilt workin in that second picture. Bella is Bellisimo!! I just wanna kiss on her! To answer your question from your PM, I only have 2 babies, Otis and Oliver. Yorkie and ShihTzu/poodle (I call Oliver a Shidder doodle! HA!) The first pic is Otis's entry into the extreme head tilt championship of the world. Bella is stiff competition. Second pic is Oliver. I need some better pics of him, poor baby. |
I'm not sure what to call the color but she sure is a cutie! |
Im not sure on the color but she has the pretty face and Love how she tilts her little head. she sure has some pretty shiny hair. |
I would call it WOW she is so cute :) looks a lot like Daisy a lite tan. |
She is just beautiful. I have also heard that their color can keep changing up until 5 years old. |
I'm not sure what the name for it is, but its beautiful! |
color hmmm so noone really has a color for me....lol Its the first thing most ask...its either what kind of yorkie is she?? (like there is a bunch ha) Or what color is her hair called? my answer is a yorkie....a regular yorkie Is she tea cup or mini??? Ummm no, there is no such thing she is a yorkie regular good ole yorkie! I agree with the blonde part....she does have Blonde, its that reddish, dark rusty color around her eyes, nocse and mouth that they should have a name for! She is sitting right here staring at me cuz I was reading the posts to her lol she just tilts her head side to side and listens. :) |
The color is called rich gold . Recently , I went to Olivier's home to see his Yorkies and some are of this color . They are gorgeous . |
Prissy Girl Ohhhh and thank you all for saying my baby is beeeuteeefullll....I think so too!!!! You know how all our babies have different personalities?? Well she is a priss! SHe plays hard and rolls around outside...not prissy like that...I can just tell she KNOWS she is beautiful. She uses her looks and charm to get what she wants. We have 4 Yorkies in our family and at get togethers we have them all there (my moms)....the MEN all carry Bella around...it's hilarious. She like one of those egyptian godesses they carry around. lol Even my dad, 6-5, 350 pounds, Not a fan of dogs AT ALL, carries this girl around. SHe has a special spot on his belly when he is in the lazy boys and he sits there and carries on conversations with her. TOO FUNNY! |
don't know a color name; i would just call it TOO CUTE for WORDS!!!! |
Bella is beautiful! She's colored up like my Lucy and I call Lucy blonde:) Was Bella blonde all over for a while and then the saddle started changing colors? Lucy is one and she has a sort of greyish silver stripe starting down her back where the saddle is changing. A friend of mine says she's psychedelic colored! |
Good Morning I believe she would be considered tan. It is really hard for me to tell. I know that Shelby & Seymours colors are very similar to eachother, but Seymour is a bit darker. They are considered "Black & Gold" (Seymour) and Blue & Tan (Shelby). |

Here is a good description of the colors for Yorkshire Terriers: http://ytca.org/education2.html Your beautiful Bella may be a little on the dark golden tan side, leaning to ginger but she may still lighten. Females (especially those that are bred) often continue to lighten as they age -- both on the blue/black areas and the tan/gold. When asked what color she is -- I'd answer either Blue and Gold or Black and Gold -- I can't see her dark areas well enough to tell. You could add that she does have a rich hue and you hope she keeps it as she ages. She truly is a beauty! |

Sorry, I can't help with the official AKC color, but in my books she is the color "beautiful". |
I call the color copper. I know it's not a listed color in their coloring but that's what I call it. Buddy's hair on his head is the same color. It's a rich golden blonde however blonde just dosen't really do it for me. I like copper:p She is beautiful by the way. |
very cute face...hard to see the pictures for the coloring |
she has the deep golden tan i am looking for in a male...kekek.. |
I agree with the colour copper. I'm not sure if that is the official name for it (or even if the AKC has a name for it). what a beauty! |

Looking for this in a male to breed with or as your baby?? I have Bella'ss full brother Diggy, just 2 litters later, he is almost 14 weeks now, and his colors are heading in the same direction as hers. Here he is at lil over 3 months and her at 4 months, he is more "coppery" right now, changes everyday lol....Let me know....;) |

Thank you for your pst about Bella!!! Acoording to the site you posted they say it shouldnt be a "setter red" like an Irish Setter! Hers is! lol I dont care at all she is not for show just my lil baby :D The QUALITY of gold on the ideal Yorkie can be likened to a NEW GOLD COIN. It bears no semblance to a rust, ginger or brownish mahogany hue. It does not appear to be a solid, unshaded orangey red nor the red of an Irish setter (setter red). Yorkies carrying a woolly or cottony black coat usually carry a pale, weak unshaded tan and are referred to as a “black and tan” (Yorkie). CORRECT SKULL SHAPE ALMOND SHAPED EYES SMALL PRICK EARS GOOD EAR SET I think she flunks the small prick ear test too lol shes my bat girl!!! :D |
