Totally UPSET! (LONG POST) Okay..I posted another thread a few days ago stating that I was going to foster my friend's yorkie. I spoke with her about caring for the dog, potty training, and what the future holds for me, her, and the dog. She insists that I come and pick up her dog. Okay so after hours and hours of exhaustive studying (I'm a student), I drove approximately 45 minutes to her place, where she is living with her sister. When I arrive, she complimented Buttercup A LOT and how nice his hair looks, how silky it is, and how he looks much better in person. Then she started talking about how her other friend who fostered her dogs for 2 weeks abused them and they were infested with fleas so that caused their hair to fall off, etc. When I had enough, I asked her where her dogs were (Yorkie, Maltese, and Papillon). When she told me they were in the restroom, I asked if I could take them out. Her reply was 'I don't think you want to because they stink really bad. I haven't taken a bath for them for 3 weeks' I thought she was joking. When I walked down the hall towards the restroom, about 10 feet away was when I smelled the stinch. When I entered was a whole different story. SHE KEEPS ALL THREE IN A KENNEL that is about the 16x4. She doesn't let them out the pee, to poop, (saying that it was too much of a hassle) lets just say she doesn't let them out at all. NO WONDER WHY THEY STINK! I offered to clean and bathe the dogs for her, comb all the mats out and clean out the kennel. What I found out when I bathing each was that they were all malnourished. You can actually see their BONES! :thumbdown I asked if she feeds them and she said only once a day. So I fed them and they ate like they never ate their whole entire lives. The dogs were so happy to be out of that kennel and she wondered why they were so hyper! I offered to take both the maltese and yorkie (although they were bald and nasty looking) and then she tells me they all have ringworms and one have heartworms. I left without them and can tell that they were sad that I left. I didn't take them with me because I feared that Buttercup would catch whatever they had and worms might not be the only thing they have. |
Oh my this is so heartbreaking...can you get them tomorrow and take them to the vet instead of bringing them home right away?? Wait until its safe to bring them around Buttercup?? They ALL need to be removed...even if you can take all three and contact a rescue group or something for medical attention...poor babies... Dawn |
Awww Poor baby's , I would turn her in. thats so sad those dogs have to live like that. |

That's what I was thinking. PLEASE go get those dogs tomorrow (all 3 of them) or send someone who will. PLEASE. |
I hope you can do something to help these babies. I couldn't sleep at all if I had just left them like that.:( |
I'm not in TX, but please let me know if you need any help w/anything. I can help out any way I can (long distance) to get those babies out of there! |
oh my..sorry to hear that...what kind of person is she...did she just get the dogs thinking it will train itself.... i hope someone can save them from her...she sure does have her own share in abusing them..argh! |
Now this story has taken an ugly turn...those dogs all need to be rescued...If you're not the one to do it, contact someone who can...that is a horrible way for them to be living. Those poor, innocent little things...OMG...they deserve a life of love and happiness...If it's meant to be...I know, I know... I've said it before!!! I think I also said "Do what's in your heart". You know what that is... |
That is pure neglect. If you can't take them to a vet to be cared for, you should call the ASPCA or animal control, or a local animal rescue to come and get them. |
What kind of person does that to their babies? All locked up with no human companionship! Their living conditions are awful! Please do what you can to remove those poor babies from her care, they deserve love and human treatment! |

I asked my husband if he was willing to help out these little dogs, all of which is under 6lbs., and he told me to do what's right. But what is the right thing to do? She is my best friend and I could never imagine her doing this but I guess you won't know a person until you live with them. My husband said the maximum amount he will put out the help these dogs is only $500. Is that enough to cover the vet bills and medications for all 3? After I take them to the vet, what do I do? I'm in no shape to take care of 4 dogs and a 4-year-old son and college. :( I have an exam tomorrow and I can hardly study knowing that I left those poor little creatures at her house in that stinky little kennel. I suggested that she get 2 expens, combine it and let them run around and enjoy themselves when she can't watch them but she said they're okay where they're at. I offered to buy it for her but she refused! |

if financially you may not be able to provide...take them to the local aspca and see what they can do for them...it is better than leaving the there not knowing what will happen next... |
I live in Tx but will be out of the country until June 23- if something hasn\'t been done by then & she will give them up, let me know- I feel sure we could find homes for them or get them into a rescue or something.:( Something really needs to be done right away, though. |
Is there a rescue group you can contact or does anyone in this area know of a rescue group that can be contacted for these babies?? Dawn |
I just spoke with her and she has agreed to let all 3 go. I think what I will do is take them to the humane society where they will be examined and treated for free and give them up for adoption. A college student like me can\'t afford to foster 3 extra dogs and I don\'t think it\'s fair that my husband works his butt off and I spend all his money. Bad part about this is that I won\'t be able to come get them until Saturday because of all the exams I have until the end of this week. |
