oh WOW that friend of yours sounds truly selfish and what the heck is she doing with THREE dogs when she shouldn't even have one ?? Is there anything I can do ? I know exactly where she lives - and anyone that can afford to live there SURE can afford to take care of pets....fleas ?? Heartworms ?? Does she know how PAINFUL BOTH ARE ? While fleas can be treated - heartworms are a VERY PAINFUL parasite and shame on her for her cruelty ! Those poor dogs !:( |
That is horrible! Please get those dogs. If I were there I would! And she has 3??? She shouldn't even have 1!! :thumbdown |
Personally, I do not know how anyone can continue being friends with someone NOW after knowing how she abuses and treats animals. By her own admission to you "She and her friend abuse them." Isn't that what she said? It is beyond me how after that statement you could worry about losing her friendship by reporting her. What needs to be done, needs be done NOW NOT SATURDAY. Someone here on YT offered to try and help out. She lives in Waco. I'm not familiar with Texas but I'm sure there is someone close to where your friend lives that would be willing to get these dogs out of that hell hole if you are unable to. Otherwise you NEED TO contact a rescue / hunt one down and have them pick the dogs up and before Saturday. Elaine |
I wish there was a national animal abuse registry (like sex offenders) and these people would not be allowed to purchase animals and would do lots of jail time. p.s. I could not be friends with this person! It reminds me of the condition one of mine was in when I got her-malnourished, ear infections and tape worms. It makes me feel sick to even think about it! The ball is in your court-you need to help them. Be it take them, report her or get them to a rescue. |
Definitely try to get her to surrender them -- to you, to a shelter, to a rescue. Calling the police usually just brings in animal control. And unless you live in a city with a no-kill shelter, that's a good way to get an instant death sentence -- particularly for an animal that is in the condition that you say these three are. :( My experience with animal control is that they are solely animal movers. Move from the home or from a neighborhood street to their truck, to a pen, and almost always to execution in a week or two. (Unless they have a no-kill shelter. Most cities DON'T have this. These are run by privately funded organizations.) As for selling them ... tell her she is just opening herself up to neglect reports. And that can lead to the troubles you mentioned earlier with eviction. If she's your friend, you should be able to be honest with her. And if she truly cares about these animals, she will let them go. In any case, I feel for you. You are in a none too enviable spot. |

Exactally my thoughts as well. Forget about worring about "Your Friend" get help for those helpless pups. They need to come first. They are depending on someone to rescue them from the hell that they have been living in and the endless pain they may be in. Who needs friends like this? Everyone talks about backyard breeders and how the dogs live in filth this is the samething to me. Three dogs in a crate going the bathroom on each other covered in fleas and suffering from heartworm and this is your friend? Sorry sweetie but you really need to get them help now. |
They must go to a rescue group. After that, you should rethink your friendship with someone that abuses living creatures. |
People like her should not be allowed to even own pets........of any kind!:thumbdown |
There is a VERY NICE ...."NO KILL"...... shelter and rescue in the Woodlands area. It is called HOPE they are located on College Park Drive just east of the 45 freeway.. their telephone number is 713-622-4673.I took a beagle stray that I rescued from a busy street here in magnolia to this shelter and they were so nice and the facility was sooo clean and well staffed. I think that would be a great place to take them. They would have a great chance of finding a good home. |
Situations like this make me feel so ill....so sad ...the main concern is for the welfare of these poor dogs, the friendship is a non- issue in a situation such as this...dogs are being abused & their health & safety is in jeopardy, please do the right thing & follow your head it's telling you the right thing to do... |
I would take those babes to a rescue |
Those poor babies would actually be better off at a shelter unfortunately. I sure would rescue them if I were closer and give them the care and love they deserve. I definately would re-think my friendship with her too, I personally couldn't be friends with an animal abuser. |
This must be very upsetting for you. Someone you obviously respected and were friends with has just really let you down by behaving in this terrible way to those poor little creatures. I think we all agree those dogs need to be removed fast! I don't want to judge you and I can just imagine the stress and inner turmoil you must be going through but I can hear or rather read that this has affected you so much and you are so distressed by what you have seen that I am amazed that you are able to concentrate on your studies at all!! I know I couldn't! My advice, act now so that you can rest easy and prepare for your exams properly without this worrying you. Tell her straight, either she gives them up to rescue home (someone mentioned one a few posts up) or you have to report it. At the end of the day, if someone can't respect other animals, how much respect will they have for their friends? I know all these thoughts must be crossing your mind and that is what makes it so hard. But you seem to be a caring kind individual so trust yourself, as harsh as it is but rest assured, this will be one battle that will certainly remind you of who you are and the respect those (humans and animals) around us deserve. And besides, you have us to make you feel better if things get nasty!;) |

http://www.countrypawsrescue.org/ You definitely do not need this stress right now along with exams, and I know it will continue to hurt your heart until you find a resolution. |
I hope these pups aren't dead before someone gets them out of there. I would personally go tell her to let me have them or I'll turn her in for animal neglect and she will go to jail or face a large fine or both. I don't know why she said they had heartworms and ringworms when it's VERY obvious they have never been to a Vet. I think when she saw them all cleaned up she decided to just tell you that so you wouldn't take them. She NEEDS to be slapped in jail, and those pups need to be taken out of there ASAP!!!!!! |
