| Took the plunge... ...I made the spay appointment. That was so hard on me. I almost started crying in the vet's office but was able to hold it in for the most part. June 14th is the big day...I am SO not looking forward to it. They only do laser spay (CO2 laser), which I was really worried about from the other vet, but I am so much more pleased with this vet's office (see my other thread about the biotch working at our EX-vet) and was only there for 5 minutes. The vet is going to do a general check-up & pre-op bloodwork. They use isofluorine gas, but do inject with a "mild sedative" before giving the gas. They don't normally put them on IV fluids during the procedure unless they're elderly, but she said if I want the vet to he'll use IV fluids for Chloe. They inject torbitrol or metacam for pain, and send them home with a pill form of one of the drugs. She doesn't have to stay the night, though, like she was going to have to at the other vet. That's the MAIN reason I went to this vet. Does everything sound okay?! I'm so worried!!!

| PS The spay is $204, $20 for the check-up since he's a new vet, $49 for the pre-op bloodwork (which I want for sure), and extra ($??) for the IV fluids. Is that horribly expensive?! Our EX-vet was more than double.

| I'm glad you found an understanding and caring vet. I haven't heard anything about sedatives, so I don't know about that, but everything else sounds good! Everything will be fine for Chloe, I'm sure. We have had a lot of tinies getting spayed lately, and they've all done great!!! I'll keep June 14 in my mind and heart, and I'll be thinking about and praying for you and Chloe.
