Does your Yorkie climb high on your shoulders... I have two Yorkies, Munchie and Maggie Moo. Maggie is a climber, she's always climbing as high as she can on my shoulders. She does this when she's bored, or when she's scared. Munchie never did this. Do you have climbers too? |
YES! Dior is a climber. She climbs on my chest and i have quite a few scratches. She does this when we go to the vet or the groomers. |
omg!!! i have been meaning to ask about this. romeo is not happy until he is up on my shoulders and that is one of his favorite ways to take a nap!!!:D if i am sitting on the sofa i know it is nap time when he runs over and jumps on my leg to pick him up to get on the sofa. from there it is to my shoulders and i have no clue why he does it! |
Sometimes they do it to be dominant. |
No, my Toby is not a climber but he loves to be ON you whenever you sit down and underfoot all the time!!!:D |
Our Gidget does this all the time. She is definitely NOT the dominant dog. She does this mostly with my son and is always on his shoulders. |
Ozzie's not a climber, but he is the classic "velcro" dog. If he isn't on you but lays by you instead, he will shake and roll until he is as close to you as he can get.:) |
romeo does it with no one but me and he loves to sleep on my chest, too. especially when i am watching a really good tv program! i have to lay at an angle just to see and he looks at me like "but mommy i am so comfortable. do you really want me to move!" little devil. |
OMG! - This is hysterical. :sidesplt: Oliver does that all the time! He climbs right up to the top of my shoulder, 'til he can't get any higher! Next thing, he'll be on top of my head! That's just too funny!!!! :lol tears |
Lily does this, especially when she is scared of something or around new people. I think it's sooo cute!! |
Climbers Yes, Bella is a climber and I noticed someone said it is a dominant thing...makes sense. Bella hikes her leg, she bucks in attempts to spread her scent, she walks with her head straight up, and makes all dogs roll over on their backs before she will play with them. And if another dogs pees in HER yard she will pee on it about 10 times and wash away and scent they had left. She's basically a freak. :p :p :p :p |
Gracie only does it when she wants to snuggle. My left shoulder is her favorite place to sleep! |
Betty only does that when she is scared or trying to get away from the hair brush!! |
how funny!!! I call Peeka my Yorkie Parrot all i need is and eye patch and a peg leg and i could be a pirate lol ahahahahahahahahaha ARRRGGGGG.... |
kikko does this only during and after a visit to the vet .. he'll do everything he can to stay up there and away from the table.. hahaha! but if he's in his playpen or gated, he'll try his best to climb out .. they are so cute sometimes huh?:D |
funny they all do this, we always call kaleigh the cat cat,lol she loves to get up on my shoulder or anyones shoulder for that matter:D she is not heavy so it dont bother me but my boys dont do it at all:rolleyes: |
 yup both of mine do that, Rosi is worse then Poli, its their safe spot ! |
Both of mine do it (yorkie and shih-poo) I also call them my "parrot dogs". They sit up on the back of the chair or couch. It doesn't bother me but when company comes over it can get a little embarrassing. Especially when my shih-poo takes his paw and combs your hair. |
lol....Buddy does the same thing!!! When I am driving Buddy sits on my shoulders but he really wants to be on top of my head. I can just see people looking at me as I drive around, "look at that womans wild hair do". lol |
Your screen name cracks me up, cause I call Otis "Otie-licious". |
my baby does this too...it is sooo funny, i always say she thinks she is a parrot..lol:) |
Mine doesn't climb my shoulders at all, or to be exact, he doesn't climb anything. He can't even jump! He will try to jump and jump just to get on the couch and still can't reach it. If his bed is not on the ground, he won't be able to get in it. I elevated his bed a little one day and he just slept right next to it. I'm thinking the reason might be because he is very petite. Who knows?!? |
Bengi climbs the couch pillow but not me :) |
Baxter does this also - I was told he was trying to be the dominant one and I stop him each time he tries - Although I found it very amusing. I thought it had to be stopped so he knows who's boss. Maybe I'll let him up there again - He is boss you know.:D |
Wobie insists on riding on my shoulders when we're in the car...weird... |
Jake loves to sit on my or hubby's shoulder! |
Harvey Does This Too - Dont Think It Is Dominance With Him Though - He Knows Who Is Boss.......... He Is Very Cuddly And Barley Sleeps Anywhere But On Your Knee, In Crook Of Arm, On Chest, On Shoulder, Or Right Up Close Laying Next To My Legs. Sometimes He Gets Himself So Comfy, I Sit There So Not To Disturbe Him, Am I Mad Or What? It Is Lovely Haveing A Cuddly Baby...... |
Autumn does this only if we are outside and I am holding her and my next door neighbor comes near her. For what ever reason she hates him!:aimeeyork |
Rosie did this the last time I took her to the groomer. I was holding her and she got scared of another dog that came to my waist. She climbed my shoulder and nearly fell. I couldn't control her and nearly didn't get her on time before she fell. |
OMG YES!!! lol London sometimes thinks she is a bird and likes to actually SIT on my shoulder and look down at the rest of the world, I guess she likes to be up high and since she's so tiny she actually fits well on my shoulder, of course I have to hold on to her just in case but she sits perfectly still. I am always joking that I may have to buy a shoulder harness so that she doesn't fall off :p Oh yea I also have a loft bed way up near the ceiling and London loves to sit by the edge and look down |
