I do not have my yorkie yet, but I want a female. I Don't want the marking with males, and girl clothes are the funnest thing to shop for! + I am the only girl out of 5 kids. kidding, not a reason lol |
When looking for Gracie, I decided early on I wanted a girl. This was to be my first dog in adulthood. I did not want to deal with the leg lift/spray thing. I wanted to have a little girl baby. I was concerned a boy might be too difficult to handle. I was hoping she would not mind being dressed up and having her hair done with a pretty bow. But mostly, I wanted to be able to say "Goodnight Gracie" each and every night! Now that I am comfortable with my baby girl, I think my second will also be female. Interesting though, of my 4 cats, my two boys are my favorite! |
I never had a dog before Dior, but i always wanted a little girl. She is definitely a little b*tch and full of SUGAR and SPICE. She is not really fond of cuddling but she is very protective and always want to be around us and needs alot of attention. I recently got a male and he is such a sweet heart. Loves to cuddle, get hugs and belly rubs.:D |
3yrs ago I put a deposit on a girl and was told she didn't make it. We could've waited for the next litter but they had a tiny male available. That is how I got Kodak, she held him longer to make sure he stayed healthy. There were 3 girls who were really tiny and we were told Oklahoma had a bad storm. The mom was terrified (her 1st storm) and the babies didn't get fed the other one passed a day later.:( Now I have Kamari, two's a joy. |
Seth is a cuddle bug but he also all boy, Sasha rules this house and she has only been here 1 week. I have the best of both worlds. :D :D |
I really wanted a yorkie. The girls were much more expensive and I didn't have the money at that time. Plus, the breeder only had boys left. I cannot be any happier with my boy. He's so sweet, he doesn't mark or hump (those are the things people are always taking into consideration when deciding what to get). The only reason for which i would get a girl sometime in the near future, is because of the cute clothes and accesories, but not because of not being happy with males. |
3 Attachment(s) Have had both male and female dogs when my four daughters were growing up but now that we are retired I prefer females. We have two female Min-pins and two female Yorkie/Chihuahua mix. They do have their issues with each other but they usually get worked out without too much interference from us. Male dogs around female children is not a good mix. |
I only wanted a male dog. I have had only male dogs. They are so loyal!! I took one look at GiGi. (mind you, I put a deposit on a male dog a few weeks before) and I knew that she was the one for me.. So she cost me 250 more than the actual selling price but i didnt care. I have a housefull of boys... I was the only girl....it is about time! i dont know if I would get another girl but I would not trade her in for 10 boys!!!! |
my husband thinks males are dumb ;) and he doesn't like the spraying. So both of mine are females. I was willing to get a male. |
I had no sex in mind, just wanted a Yorkie. I saw Conner's face online, and I had to have him. He looked like trouble, and I was certainly right. He keeps me on my toes at all times. |
The first Yorkie I ever met was a female. She made me want one just like her so it had to be a girl. Besides, being a girl myself it was the obvious choice for me. I would hesitate to get a male because of the marking thing but my female marks too. Oh well. |

I didn't chose my first Yorkie , Gazou chose me . There were 1 male and 2 females . Gazou was constantly coming to me so the choice was very easy to do . He is a dream come true . |
I have the same thought...boys are more lapdogs...well my male maltese is...he likes to cuddle with you... but i got a female yorkie...and in the process of looking for a male yorkie... |
This might sound mean, but the only reason I even considered a male at first is because they are less expensive, and I couldn't afford a female... I really wanted a girly-girl dog to dress up in bows and buy everything pink with flowers, but my breeder sent me pictures of Paddington and I didn't want a girl anymore! After I chose Paddington, I heard that girl dogs tend to have bad attitudes anyway (hence the term derived for people with bad attitudes) and I wouldn't trade my boy for all the ribbons and pink in the world! This also may sound mean, but I am still going to do his hair in ribbons and bows (more blue and green than pink now, of course);) Everyone tells me "You can't groom him to be all froo-froo! He's a boy! I think they see the scrappy young pup that he is now, with his shaggy coat, and they don't know the sophisticated young man that he's going to grow into :p -O |
