Calling all silky coated yorkies....
 
For those that have silky coat yorkies can you please post pictures of them? I want to see how they look, I heard they are wayyy easy to maintain and are so pretty. I know Jessi's Bobbi has a silky coat, it is gorgeous! Anyone else?

ceeby and Kandy in my avatar are silky coated. I have Ceeby in full coat and kandy in a puppy cut. Sadie and Renny also are silky coated but you can't tell in my avatar, they are so young. dixie is also silky coated.

They are gorgeous! :) How can you tell they will be silky coated when they are so young?

Pixie has a silky coat and is a dream to maintain. Cali has a thick more cottony coat that mats very easily and hard to care for.

For some reason, I have this picture on my hard drive and I have no idea where it's from or whose it is! It might be from a Google search. (If it's yours and you want me to remove it or whatever, you can tell me.)

Both of my boyz have silk coats...they are naturally shiny and very easy to maintain.

I think that is Bobbi, Jessy's little yorkie, who I mentioned above. I love his hair, it's sooooo silky and shiny. I wish Teddy's hair was like that, his is so cottony and hard to maintain.

LOL! If you saw their puppy pictures you wouldn't believe they're the same boyz! They had the scruffiest looking coats I had ever seen...it was thin, short and straight...I'll post them for you...

The first 2 are Jo at 4 months and 6 months.
The second 2 are Riley at 4 months and 6 months.

It's amazing how they change!

Hey Sarah, I know you know my girls but here's a few pics for you. I just cut Trixie and Pia's hair myself, so don't mind the haircuts :p The first two pics are before I attempted to give them shorter do's for summer. :D Then the following two are from after I cut them. Both have silky coats and are really easy to care for. :)

Haha, that is Jessi's Bobbi....and you probably have it saved on your computer because his coat is so gorgeous :D

oh wow! You're right, they look totally different! :eek: But they were soo very cute and still are. I wish there was some way you could tell, then I would have all silky yorkies :D Teddy is a modified coat though, his face and head hair is soooo straight and soft! But his body hair is thick and wavy. London's hair though is very soft and straight, IDK what she is, could she be a silky coat? she is almost 8 months old and her hair is still growing...i will post a pic in a few :)

Girl...I always love looking at pics of your girls cause their hair is sooo long, shiny and thick. I love that, you can do whatever with it. :) I know I would def. be braiding London's topknot if it were that long :p They are sooo pretty! You are very lucky

Ahh, thanks girl and I have braided Pia's hair before and she just sits there like her typical princess self and loves it ;) However, NOT Trixie :p She's my wild child!!! I forgot to mention that Trixie had really fluffy poofy cotton like hair as a pup. I never ever would have imagined that it would get silky. Now Pia's hair has always been silky. Both have always had extremely thick texture, so who knows why some change and others don't. :confused:

I love the look of all the silky coats on your babies. But I love my little fluff butt, he I'm sure is cotton coated...oh well he is a very good boy though, and I wouldn't trade him for nothin'.

She's a little Princess :p I would love to see her with a braid. I love V's little baby with the little braid, is it Cherie or Chanel? Trixie is a doll anyway. Btw is she older than Pia or Pia is the older one?

So do I...I wish Teddy's hair was silky cause it's gorgeous and easy to maintain but I love him anyway and wouldn't trade him for anything :)

Yes, that's my Bobbi :) His hair is much longer, steel blue and silkier now. I need to take new pics ;)

Thank you, that is so sweet! How old is Teddy now? Bobbi is 10 months and it is only in the last 2 months that his hair has really gotten thicker, and silkier. I believe his adult coat is coming in nicely. Their coats change so often you never know what you're going to end up with ;)

o wow they are about the same age! Teddy will be 11 months the 25th of this month :)

Bobbi will be 11 on the 24th of next month :D

Like I said, his hair was super thin until very recently. His color is changing and his hair is thicker!! I can't believe it

Maybe Teddy will surprise you too soon! :p

Your Yorkies are all just adorable. I wanted to mention that a silk coat reflects light and is cool to the touch....such as silk feels cool and wool warm.

If you are looking for a pup with a silk coat at about 8 weeks look for a very thin coat that isn't really all that nice then but it will grow into a lovely coat that is easy to take of but of course check the coat of the sire and dam. Like Cali's owner I have had one silk and one cottony and kept the latter a bit shorter all the time because grooming was quite hard on her.

I'm not sure, but ive been told that, Maggie has a silk coat and she looks like she does to me too. this picture is a couple months or so old. She will be 1 June 4th. I just know her hair hang down smooth and looks silky to me and is a breeze to comb. She rarely has a matt.
