Yeah, I didn't even think about that. Very smart thinking on your part. We got to bring Ozzie home in the evening after he had been neutered and had 2 teeth out. But when he was hospitalized in February, they had him for two nights. (And the vet's office doesn't have anyone there between midnight and 6 a.m. DID NOT like that at all.) But they are now going to a 24-hour facility very soon. Hoping I don't need it again, but if I do, I know someone will ALWAYS be on duty. |
My vet was going to let me take Cali home that night as Isaid since no on is here all night I would stay up all night and watch her and I live 7 minutes from the 24 hour vet. It turned out she had emergency surgery and they spayed her at the same time at the er vet and she had to stay 36 hours. |
My vet would only keep a dog overnight if it had complications. Then she herself would stay there with it. (I love my vet. I did have to pick Adie up right at closing time so she could be there as long a possible though. It is scary and I remember thinking that she acted like she was dieing. Then the following morning it was like nothing had happened. Good luck! |
Awww I know how scarey it is. Im sorry keeping you and her in my prayers. |
they told me I had to leave my lab when they spayed her. I want to say she was like 6 months old then. Bridget came home the next morning and hadn't changed a bit. :) Still happy, bouncing and jumping. I had to try to keep her quiet so she wouldn't hurt herself. |
never never I agree that you should not leave them overnight like that without a soul to look in on them. But I have a little boy and didn't have the spay thing to do. But a vet that understands is the only way to go! |
My vet had told me (after I got done crying) that if Brandi wasn't alert enough to get up walk around a bit.....that he would keep her over night.....they called me when it was over.....and then told me to call around 4pm....when I called they told me to come get her around 6pm......I'm glad she was home....although it was a difficult night for me....he didn't give her pain meds....and she whined and moaned a good part of the night.... |
Awww girl!! Just *TRY* and think positive - I'm SURE everything will be JUST FINE! Although, I kind of feel silly saying all this because I will be in your shoes in a few months and I know that I am going to feel the exact same way as you do now :( As mommies, we can never help but to worry - thats just what we do :( Honestly though, I'm sure Betty will do GREAT!!!!! Steddy, Tatum, and myself are all sending warm thoughts and many, many hugs to you and Betty! Please keep us updated on how she does girl! We are saying a prayer for her! :ghug: |
Ill keep you both in my prayers tonight,im sure everything will be ok:) |
Roxy spent the nite when she was spayed. When I picked her up the next morning, she was just fine. No pain meds needed. She had 5 teeth pulled, too. I would have preferred to have had her home, but she did great. I'll keep you and Betty in my thoughts and prayers, and don't worry, she's gonna be good as new in no time. |

As far as leaving her over night, I was told I had to also and I told them that I think she will be better off at home with me where I can watch her and that's exactly what I did, I picked her up that evening and all she did was sleep that night and pretty much the next day. If I were you, i would not let her stay over night alone! Good luck to you and betty and I will be thinking of you and her! Please keep us posted! HUGS and prayers coming your way. |
I'll be thinking about you and Betty this morning. I cried, and I had to leave Lucy overnight. I do think she was better for having left her overnight though. The vet and his assistants loved on her and spoiled her rotten while she was there. |
