Yorkies with skin allergies/allergies I want to hear from anyone out there if they have a yorkie with allergies, any allergies, food, grass anything. |
What do you need to know? People's experiences or something like that? |
Here is another thead with some really good replies regarding allergies. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=allergy Also, here is a thread I started that really helped my Jazzie who had chronic allergies from the time we brought her home. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...23&postcount=1 I hope this helps. |
I just posted this in the "Yorkie Health & Diet" section. I haven't had any experience with itchy yorkies, but maybe it will be of some help to you. The condition is called Candida. http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/Knowle...s=&click=73117 |
Cali scratches constantly day and night. I have had her to the vet many times and had the expensive allergy testing done all with no results. I took her in again Thursday and told the vet I was desperate as poor Cali scratches all the time. She really feels it is food allergies and ashe said the only thing to do is keep her on one food. a novel protein (like vennison, white fish) for 4 months and nothing else no treats. I am in the process of getting her the ingredients of all Cali's foods to see if one of them will work. In the mean time we decided to try steroids for a very short period of time to see if she can get some relief. None of the allery meds worked for her at all.I will keep you posted. |
Scratching and Itching with Alyssa My dog, Alyssa, has very sensitive skin and allergies. She got to the point about 2 years ago where all she did was bite and scratch at her skin. We went to the vet several different times and each time either got allergy medicine or steroids. The steroids would help until they were used up and then it was back to scratching. Our next step was going to be allergy tests which are expensive. I was feeding Royal Canin Yorkshire Food. I changed to another brand and it stopped. Because of the recall of food I changed back from the brand she was eating and went back to Royal Canin because I thought it was safe and had not been recalled. Alyssa started back itching and scratching. I then changed to Canidae on April l3th of this year. Since then there has been no scratching and itching. I have not determined the exact cause of the scratching but truly believe that there is something in the RC that she is alergic to. |
